Description for Ford Other Pickups 1952
I purchased this truck as a one family owned Southern Alberta (arid climate) truck. It had been parked in a machinery shed for many years because the original Flathead engine had gave way long ago. Since this truck had been stored inside for so long it was able to maintain its original sheet metal quite impressively. The condition of original bed wood could be used as a barometer to indicate the condition of the rest of this truck. With the generation turn over on this farm they were cleaning up the yard and I was afforded the opportunity to purchase this truck. It is 66 yrs young, so the exterior isn't pristine and the odd ding, dent, scratch and surface rust can be found. On the other hand those traits took 66 yrs to form and they cannot be easily replicated and I felt they should be preserved as opposed to being covered up. It also shows that there is nothing hiding with this truck. This truck was disassembled down to every last bolt. The inside of the cab/doors, fire wall, and cab underside were sand blasted then painted. There was no metal work required on the cab prior to painting as everything was very solid. Boxing off the frame in a couple of areas was done. Every part on the chassis/frame, rear bumper, suspension, transmission, rear end, inner fenders etc. would have been professionally sand blasted and powder coated. The only main parts that would have been painted as opposed to being powder coated would have been the cab/doors and the engine block. Every rubber piece including window seals, weather stripping, window tracks, rubber bumpers etc were replaced. All the glass is new.
The original Flathead I had completed this truck was replaced with a much stronger new completely rebuilt, machined and balanced Flathead engine built by a reputable local machinist, 'Power Tech Engines', in Brudeheim Alberta. Here are a few youtube videos of a couple of flatheads he built:
