Description for Ford Thunderbird 1955
The 1955 Ford Thunderbird launched an icon, and this car shows us exactly why. With a fully coordinated color combo, great V8 power, and a true luxurious presence, it was all the style the road could handle in '55. And that esteem has only grown over the last six decades. This was Ford's personal statement. They let the designers take their time to develop a long and sleek machine that was equal parts sporty and luxury. After all, elements like the factory-correct Torch Red paint, hood scoop, faux side louvers, and jet-inspired taillights give this a great performance look. But this also has a true sense of style with its 10,000-watt chrome smile, fender skirts, and exhaust tips concealed within the rear bumper guards. You even have wide whitewall tires to go with your choice of the white folding roof or white removable hardtop. That same white and red appeal continues inside. In fact, this is well coordinated everywhere you look. That's why the ribbed white inserts in the seats match the door panels, and the machine-turned panel flows from the dash seamlessly to both doors. Because this is a personal luxury cruiser, you get some features that are a true rarity for the time, like the power seat. And driving this one is quite easy, because the plexiglass speedo allows you to see more of the road, and with the investment in a newer windshield, everything looks clean and clear. This was the year Ford introduced the larger 292 cubic-inch Y-block V8, so it's great to see that displacement still under the hood today. In fact, the consignor states this is the original motor to the car. Not a bad thing to a have on a vehicle that has averaged less than 1,200 miles annually. And this has the right look of originality with Thunderbird special valve covers, windshield washer bag, and the pie dish air topper with correct diaphragm surrounding half of it. Plus, this has been given the right investments, including newer hoses and a fresh re-wiring. The V8 runs nicely and pulls strong. And it makes for a terrific cruise thanks to the Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission and the long wheelbase's supple ride. This is going to be your new cherished toy, and so it even comes with a custom car cover. It's time to own a legend, call today!
