Description for Ford F-250 1978
Preface - my friend did not take pictures of the rear seat or rear door interior because I never installed the rear door panels and he thought no one would want to see it. If you need pictures I can take them and send them to you. Also he did not take pictures of rear door corners or underside, there is no rust. Normally I take photos of all these areas but this was for a photo shoot not for selling purposes. Short story on this truck: This truck was originally white, or it was when I first saw it sitting in a man's carport while his new truck was sitting out in the yard. This was about 2001. I tried to buy it and/or offer my Ford diesel truck that had about 67,000 miles on it for this truck, he said no way. He said he could buy a diesel truck but could not replace this one. Fast forward; around 2005 my friend called me and said he saw the truck for sale and for 2,000 dollars finders fee he would go get it for me. Done! It sat in my shop for 3 or 4 years. Then another one of my friends just had to have it and had a pocket full of hundreds dollar bills. So we made a trade. He wanted it black so he had everything inside, outside, you name it he painted it black except glass, mirrors, and grille. You could shine a light inside the cab and still could not see anything. It was black! Since the truck was a custom with no chrome from factory it was UGLY. Sort of like a spray can painted sheet of plywood painted black. I knew what chrome would do for it so I bought it back, probably just to show him what it could be. This was probably around 2009. Between economic ups and downs in my spare time I finally got it to this point in 2018. All I have left to do is install rear door panels and a new windshield wiper fluid reservoir, PERIOD!! Motor; this has a story also. I was going out of town for business on a one day trip so I told my son to paint the original motor which ran really really nice. Upon my return I expected to see motor, brackets etc., all nice and painted. What did my son do? He pulled the motor and when I got back instead of the truck being ready to sell, the motor is on a motor stand to be painted. This is not what I told him. It looked nice already, all he had to do was touch it up. I was furious because I wanted to sell it that week, I had bills to pay. Then I though, don't get mad, God must not want me to sell it right now. That was about 2 or 3 years ago. Shortly after that happened my real business got a huge contract and I had the time and money to finish the truck, yes with NEW 400 to 450 HP 400, I still have the stock motor my son took out of the truck. So basically the truck has been in my shop or in storage mostly since 2005. Short list of things I have done to the truck: - Removed dash panel and had painted brown. - Installed black dash pad. - Installed black carpet. - Had front and rear seats repaired and recovered. - Installed new head liner. - New front door XLT door panels with very hard to find stainless steel wood grain trim. (2,700 just for exhaust) - New fuel tank, fuel pump, sending unit and all new fuel lines. - All new stainless steel brake lines.
