Description for Ford Mustang 1970
Mustang coupes represent one of the biggest bargains in the old car hobby today. Often living in the shadow of their convertible and fastback siblings, cars like this 1970 Ford Mustang Grade coupe offer the same performance, same handsome interior, and same street presence, all for less cash. Talk about a win-win situation! Refinished a few years ago, this slick pony is just more proof that there's no such thing as an ugly 1970 Mustang. It's wearing correct code 2 Light Ivy Yellow paint, which is how it came from the factory, and it still looks appealing today. From the wide-mouth grille to the sport mirrors to the traditional three-element taillights, this car is pure American fun from any angle. Finish work is extremely good, particularly for a car in this price class, and offers a high-visibility shine and excellent gaps, all of which make it stand out. Subtle details reveal themselves after you get acquainted, such as the Mustang script on the front fenders, blacked-out tail panel, and twin chrome tailpipes sticking out below the bumper. Add in a nicely done white vinyl roof, and you have a great-looking pony car that will be the center of attention but one that never seems to be trying too hard. High-back bucket seats anchor a nicely finished interior in the original code AG Ivy Green Houndstooth, which is extremely attractive. Coupes and fastbacks shared the same parts, and from behind the wheel it's almost impossible to tell them apart. The deeply set gauges look sporty and in this car appear to be in completely original condition, and we believe the door panels are original equipment as well. The carpets and dash pad are in such good shape that they have to be fresh, and the woodgrained appliques on the doors and console are bright and crisp. Options include factory A/C (needs to be serviced) and an unusual AM/FM/8-track stereo in the dash. The trunk has been lined with sound-deadening materials so this Grande sounds suitably hushed inside, and a full-sized Magnum 500 wheel and matching BFG radial are a nice find. Performance is entertaining, too, especially when you're carrying a great-running 302 cubic inch V8. Rugged and easy to maintain, the 302 is a great choice and thanks to an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and intake manifold, there's plenty of performance on tap. Inside there's a mild street cam so it pulls hard but isn't fussy, and MSD supplied the coil and distributor to light it up. The engine bay is neatly detailed with a chrome air cleaner and Ford Racing aluminum valve covers and it's nice to see details like original-style hose clamps, which suggest someone really cared. The transmission is a C4 3-speed automatic feeding a stock rear end with 3.00 gears inside, making this a low-stress cruiser. The exhaust system is very recently installed, including great-sounding mufflers and those cool chrome tips, and it's impressively clean underneath. Handsome Magnum 500 wheels always look right and carry 225/60/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials all around. Neatly sorted and ready to enjoy, this high-visibility Mustang will get admiring glances anywhere it goes. Even more importantly, you'll feel like a million bucks from behind the wheel. Call today!
