Description for Ford Mustang 1968
This pro-built Pro-Touring 1968 Ford Mustang coupe has every trick you could want under its glowing blue skin. Trading on a Shelby-esque look, it packs serious firepower in the form of an injected 5.0 small block, a highly functional interior, and a reworked suspension that'll keep it tight with some pretty serious hardware. Sometimes you know a car is right from the start, and this is one of those cars. With bright electric blue paint and very subtle ghost stripes, it will certainly stand out anywhere it goes, but it also nails the stance and adds a few custom details that will make necks snap back for a second look. Shelby-style details include a billet grille with built-in fog lights, faired-in scoops on the quarter panels, and the glassed-in ducktail spoiler out back looks especially trick when combined with sequential Thunderbird (Shelby) taillights. Of course, it goes without saying that the bodywork underneath is very nicely done and the paint has been buffed to a brilliant shine that shows off the vivid blue finish to great effect. The hood was inspired by the late-model GT500 Super Snake, plus a deep chin spoiler that's a cool change from the usual stuff. A custom rear roll pan, shaved door handles, and a billet fuel filler give it a very custom look without losing its Mustang identity. You'll be absolutely blown away by the upgrades inside. Deeply bolstered buckets from a late-model Mustang have been upholstered in white leather with pony embroidery on the headrests, and the rear bench has been finished to match. The door panels look especially slick and the dashboard is full of Auto Meter gauges. A tilt steering column and a wood-rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel make it easy to get comfortable, and your hand will naturally fall on the custom shifter for the 5-speed manual gearbox. A custom center console blends old and new seamlessly and a Pioneer AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo with speakers scattered throughout the interior sounds awesome. In back, the trunk is neatly finished with custom enclosures for the subwoofers and amplifiers making it a show-stopper all by itself. But the hardware is the real star of this show. The engine is a fuel-injected crate 5.0 fortified for combat. Installed about 3000 miles ago, it features mostly factory hardware that makes it bulletproof reliable and very torquey around town. A custom intake snorkel looks trick and the engine has a monochromatic paint job that seems right for this extroverted Mustang. With factory engine controls, it starts instantly and idles well, and there are bottomless reserves of torque that make this coupe legitimately quick. The Tremec 5-speed manual transmission was installed at the same time as the engine and gives this vintage pony a very up-to-date feel. With upgrades like rack-and-pinion steering, oversized sway bars, and stiffer shocks and springs, handling is exceptional. Four-wheel discs provide all the stopping power you'll need, and with block-hugging headers and Flowmasters, you'll have no problems getting attention. The rear end is a 9-inch with 3.50 gears inside and it sits on 18-inch Torque Thrust wheels with grippy 235/40/18 performance radials. A vintage pony with a slick look and performance to back it up, this coupe offers a lot of performance for a lot less than it would cost to build your own. Like what you see?
