Want a classic car that will get the neighborhood talking; something your kids' friends will want to ride and be seen in? MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this 1929 Ford Model A Phaeton Restomod. This unit was one of 49,818 Model A Phaetons built in 1929.

Finished in a semi-exotic red-orange, the paint and trim are in overall very good order, with just the slightest evidence of blemishes close up. The car's body work is straight, the tan phaeton folding top is good order, the engine bay is quite tidy and the bumpers are in satisfactory condition. Up front are cowl lights while in back is a fold-down luggage rack for additional storage.

Understood to be a Ford 302 CID V-8 engine breathing via dual exhausts replaces this A-bone's original 201 CID inline four-cylinder. Backing up this V-8 motor is Ford's FMX three-speed automatic transmission (which replaced the original three-speed sliding gear manual) and a nine-inch Ford rear-end with Traction-Lok. This restomod uses a Ford Mustang front suspension and coilovers in back along with four-wheel disc brakes.

This A-bone rolls on radials, 195/75R14 in front and 235/70SR15 in rear. Each donut surrounds an American Racing chrome spoke wheel. All of the wheels and tires are in very good order.

Inside, the newly upholstered interior looks great. The bench seats are ready to haul at least five people while the matching carpet is in fine shape. An aftermarket steering wheel, with tilt and telescoping features, faces the driver; the inner door panels and red-orange metal instrument panel are in very good condition.

The Model A came in a wide variety of styles including a Coupe (Standard and Deluxe), Business Coupe, Sport Coupe, Roadster Coupe (Standard and Deluxe), Convertible Cabriolet, Convertible Sedan, Phaeton (Standard and Deluxe), Tudor Sedan (Standard and Deluxe), Town Car, Fordor (five-window standard, three-window deluxe), Victoria, Town Sedan, Station Wagon, Taxicab, Truck, and Commercial. The very rare Special Coupe started production around March 1928 and ended mid-1929.

The Model A was the first Ford to use the standard set of driver controls with conventional clutch and brake pedals, throttle, and gearshift. Previous Fords used controls that had become uncommon to drivers of other makes. The Model A's fuel tank was situated in the cowl, between the engine compartment's firewall and the dash panel. It had a visual fuel gauge, and the fuel flowed to the carburetor by gravity. A rear-view mirror was optional. In cooler climates, owners could purchase an aftermarket cast iron unit to place over the exhaust manifold to provide heat to the cab. A small door provided adjustment of the amount of hot air entering the cab. The Model A was the first car to have safety glass in the windshield.

Hot rodders, particular those with an affinity for these A-bones or just someone who wants an instantly recognizable classic car, should stop by MotoExotica Classic Cars to check out this restomodded Ford Model A.
