Description for Ford Mustang 1966
Back in the day and once upon a time, Mustangs were desirable mostly because they were good looking, nice driving, efficient little cars. And they sold like hot cakes. Sure, there were some hot rod versions that created extra excitement and those were the standard bearers in the Pony car wars that it started. But most of the cars sold were just fun little daily drivers. Like this car. It's getting kind of hard to find an original Mustang that hasn't been hopped up and modified these days. This car is a nice, unmodified example of what made these cars so popular. Check it out. Code M, Wimbeldon White, was, and is, a popular color for the Mustang. This car was delivered in that color new, and remains that color today. Up front the now iconic galloping Pony was a new and exciting thing to see on the grill. Ford in script appears on the leading edge of the long hood and a thin chrome bumper underlines it. The crisp, clean lines of the body are timeless and look better than ever today. There are Mustang emblems on the front fenders and chrome trim on the rear fender where the accent line down the side turns and makes a scoop. There is rocker trim along the bottom and the notchback roofline looks perfect leading into a short trunk lid. There is a Mustang gas cap, those now familiar triple element taillights, and a thin chrome bumper completing the look at the back of the car. Open the door and you will find a code 27, Aqua interior that, like the paint, was the color it was built with new and has remained. The door panel sets the look of the two-tone effect with lighter blue surrounding a slightly darker, pleated center with a slash of chrome that mimics the body line on the side of car dividing the two sections. A three spoke steering wheel with a Mustang horn button sits in front of a stock dash with the darker blue upper. An oval gauge cluster has the speedometer in the center flanked by smaller fuel and oil pressure gauges on the left, and amps and water temp on the right. The bucket seats are comfortable with pleated centers bordered by smooth vinyl. A T-handle shifter sits on the floor for the automatic transmission and vinyl floor mats with a galloping Pony protect the carpeting. Open the hood and you will find a very clean and nicely detailed engine bay with a 200 cubic inch 6-cylinder engine nestled down inside it. These are great little engines that are fuel efficient and simple to maintain. This one is presented in its correct Blue color and in all its simple glory. The blue air filter housing sits on top of a 1-barrel Motorcraft-Autolite carb which feeds the stock intake manifold and cylinder head. The valve cover is also blue as is the rest of the engine iron. There is a new alternator and starter along with tune up items like plugs, cap and wires. The radiator as well as the belts and hoses have been replaced recently too. There is a new exhaust system from front to rear. Power is sent back through a 3-speed automatic to the rear wheels and the car sits on steel wheels with 195/75R14 tires and Mustang hub caps all around. This car is one of those fun little daily drivers that helped make the Mustang so popular. It has been well maintained and is still in its original colors. Come on down and experience that "back in the day" feeling with this car.
