Description for Ford Model B 1932
CALIFORNIA BUILT HOT ROD SURVIVOR 5 WINDOW 1932 FORD COUPE. THIS FINE HOT ROD WAS BUILT IN 1956 BY HARRY LERAS SR. OF MONTE RIO CALIFORNIA. PURCHASED IN 1954, HARRY, OWNER OF HARRY'S AUTO PARTS AND SERVICE, TRANSFORMED THIS CAR INTO A HOT ROD. THIS CAR IS ALMOST EXACLTY THE WAY HARRY BUILT IT, WITH A FEW UPDATES FOR SAFETY. ENGINE IS A 1956 BUICK 322 HARRY PULLED FROM A NEARLY NEW CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL CAR THAT WAS DEMOLISHED. HE UPDATED THE ENGINE WITH A GENERAL MOTORS 3/4 RACE CAM WITH SOLID LIFTERS. HE ADDED AN OFFENHAUSER 3 DUECE INTAKE WITH MDL 48 STROMBERG CARBS (ALL RECENTLY REBUILT). HE DRESSED IT UP WITH OFFENHAUSER VALVE COVERS AND CHROMED THE SIDE PLUG COVERS ALONG WITH THE GENERATOR AND BRACKET. THE ENGINE BOLTS UP TO A 1939 FORD TRANSMISSION LOADED WITH LINCOLN ZEPHER GEARS WITH HELP FROM AN OFFENHAUSER ADAPTOR. POWER IS TRANSMITTED USING A WEBER ALUMINUM FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. HARRY BUILT A 1934 FORD REAR AXLE AND ADDED A LARGE TRUCK THRUST BOLT TO THE CENTER SECTION TO KEEP THE 411 RING GEAR FROM BREAKING DUE TO THE EXTRA TORQUE OF THE BUICK ENGINE. THE DRIVE SHAFT AND TORQUE TUBE WERE SHORTENED TO FIT THE 32. WHEELS ARE CHROMED MERCURY WHEELS THE REARS ARE REVERSED. THE TIRES WERE GOODYEAR SUPER NYLON CUSHION 6.40X15 THE REARS WERE US ROYAL MASTER AIR RIDE 8.20X15 BUT HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH NEW FIRESTONE TIRES OF LIKE SIZES FOR A MUCH BETTER RIDE. THE CHROMED FRONT SUSPENSION USES A DROPPED AXLE WITH SPRING, BACKING PLATES AND WISHBONE ALL CHROMED. THE CHROME IS NOT IN GREAT SHAPE. FRONT SHOCKS AND DOGBONES WERE REPLACED WITH NEW FOR A BETTER RIDE. THE ORIGINAL 4 CYL. RADIATOR IS USED AND COOLS THE CAR WELL. A FUEL REGULATOR HAS BEEN ADDED WITH A VINTAGE GAUGE FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE WITH THE 3 DUECE CARBURATORS. THE 1957 BUICK BLACK PAINT HARRY SPRAYED IS STILL ON THE CAR AND IN RELATIVELY NICE CONDITION. THE INTERIOR IS DONE IN WHITE VINYL WHICH IS ALSO USED ON THE ROOF INSERT AND RUNNING BOARDS. THE ORIGINAL GUAGE PANEL IS USED AND AUGMENTED WITH A SUN TACHOMETER AND SEVERAL STEWART WARNER GUAGES. A ROLL DOWN REAR WINDOW MECHANISM WAS ADDED BY CURRENT OWNER USING ALL ORIGINAL PARTS INCLUDEING THE HANDLE AND ESCUESION. ALL 1932 PARTS ARE ORIGINAL, THE CAR IS ALL HENRY FORD STEEL INCLUDING ALL FENDERS AND SITS ON AN UNMODIFIED ORIGINAL FRAME. BRAKES ARE ALL 1940 FORD INCLUDING THE MASTER CYLINDER (WHICH WAS JUST REPLACED WITH NEW) A NEW ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP AND ALL LINES WERE REPLACED LAST YEAR. ALL WINDOW FRAMES, REAR NERF BARS AND REAR FRAME HORN COVERS ARE CHROME PLATED. TAIL LIGHTS HAVE BEEN UPDATED WITH LED LIGHTS. THIS IS A FUN CAR TO DRIVE AND TAKES YOU BACK TO THE 50'S WHEN YOU ARE CRUISING DOWN THE ROAD.
