Description for Ford F-500 1953
Offered here is a 1953 ford F-500 Flatbed Truck, with Custom Dump Bed. The truck originally had a Flathead V-8 engine with four speed manual trans. In 1980 we changed the engine to a 292 Ford V-8, a new front motor mount was made and everything else bolted up. In 1999 we added power steering from a Toyota land cruiser. This truck was painted in 1979 and has never been touched since. It dose have a few issues with the body, I will list them best as I see. Has the normal rusted out areas at the bottom of the cab behind the doors, a big scratch on the passenger fender Keyed by someone years ago, a patched hole in the cowl on the drivers side old radio antenna hole, the hood dose not want to stay down after closing I believe this is cuz the spring mount is loose needs welding. Is missing one of the hood stiffening rods easy fix. We had the seat reupholstered and repaired and the interior painted all done with the original restoration in the 80's. The dump bed was custom made from scratch and is made from 1/4" steel plate, with diamond plate tale piece. To operate the dump you stop the truck put it in neutral and engage the PTO, then push the dump lever works great! The sides are removable, as well as the tool box if needed. It has a self storing heavy duty rear rack so that you can haul long lumber or what have you. The motor is strong with good oil pressure, this motor was rebuild before it was installed, and the radiator was hot tanked and cleaned. It has a newer heater core and motor installed but we never plumed it in, it is however stubbed through the fire wall ready to go. We have a file of paperon the truck from day one. Short history of this truck I bought it in 1977 worked on it over the years till 1982 or so paint, motor, tires, brakes, wheels, lights, 12-Volt, new glass body parts etc. We used it for our construction business for many years, it's been a great truck we love and have lots of good memories of. Its been parked for 7 years and we have just drove it two or three times a year since. My son doesn't want it, and we are retiring soon so it's time, if you want a great old truck that needs some love, this will make a great driver or you can take to a better restoration. This is a solid old truck with lots of potential or possibilities for right person, are you the one? I can send more pics or answer any questions if you need. 360-572-4879 Thanks Dave. We are located in Washington State 40 miles north of Seattle in Stanwood Wa. 98282. Scale weight is 8200 lbs. empty.NOTE: we had lots of questions so I'm posting some more info on those items, the doors close and open solid no rattles, the wipers work but will need new arms, they are worn and the springs are weak, the front windshieldhas not been replaced and is pitted but NOT broken, Floor boards are not rusted through. Battery tray is solid not rusted or corrodedlike many are. This truck was kept under cover for the last 20 years. It has a Holley two barrelcarb that was rebuilt this summer, the gas tank was hot tanked and painted in 1980. Brakes wheel barring, seals, and wheel cylinder where all replaced and or redone in the 80's during the restoration. The Wheels where removed and cleanedand painted as well, they are older split rims. Tires are recaps and have deep tread.
