Description for Ford Mustang 1971
This 1971 Ford Mustang Boss 351 Tribute harbors one of Ford's most coveted, era-appropriate powerplants underneath its hood and is a head turning, authentic representation of the Ford Mustang decked out in one of its most beloved, classic option packages. From the black, scooped hood with its functional ram air system, to the elaborate stripes running the lengths of its sides, this '71 has been accurately configured to mirror the Boss 351s of its year -...one of the most excitement-inducing model variations Ford ever conjured up. While a trip to the paint booth for a freshening up would take this Mustang to a higher level, it's a sharp looking, road ready "driver" in its current state. Its sport roof body style was a big hit when introduced and combines with the uniquely contoured lower window line and long hood to give the car a very distinctive look when viewed from the side. The front and back bumpers are in particularly good condition, all exterior fittings sit well aligned and securely in place and clear glass surrounds the cabin. The Boss 351 emblems on the front fenders look nice and crisp and the pair of hood pins sitting at the front of that elaborate, functional dual scooped hood are in good working order. Climb inside and you'll see that the interior is in good shape and still sports a proper factory configuration. The high-backed bucket seats show only minor wear and sit astride a nicely proportioned center console that provides some welcome interior storage space, as well as a convenient place to rest an elbow. The Mustangs of the early '70s rode on a longer wheelbase than their predecessors and a nice dividend comes in the form of increased rear seat legroom - you'll have no shortage of eager passengers when you bring this classic home and they'll be comfortable in back. The woodgrain accents on the dash and door panels look to be in good shape and the Ford-branded floor mats with their signature running horses add a nice finishing touch. A supple looking, uncracked dash pad runs the width of the cabin - always a welcome find with UV sensitive black upholstery - and the original AM/FM/cassette stereo still stands by to provide your audio soundtrack while out on the road. In back, the trunk area sports a fresh-looking rubber seal to keep the elements out, as well as a full size spare inside. This is one nice driving classic Mustang. The 351 Cleveland under its hood is one of the most respected powerplants Ford ever offered. It's been built to the proper Boss specs for its era and wears a pair of aftermarket Boss 302 heads. A Holley 4-barrel carb, as well as an Edelbrock Torquer intake manifold, have been added to maximize its output. A 4-speed top loader manual transmission sits just behind it, so this classic offers a great "hands on" driving experience that puts maximum control of performance in your hands. Power steering makes for easy navigation, while power brakes that feature discs up front bring this vintage Ford's set of 14" stock wheels outfitted with Cooper Cobra Radial G/Ts to dependable stops. A look below reveals a very solid undercarriage. This 1971 Ford Mustang Boss 351 Tribute offers tons of vintage appeal and a strong running condition and must be seen to be fully appreciated.
