Description for Ford Other 1931
Some of you will well remember this car from the multitude of feature magazine articles or from seeing it at car shows and races including Bonneville where it was photographed extensively. Well cared for during the last 12 years by my friend Paul in Canada the little coupe is now back in the US and a winter long restoration and revamping was recently completed. Built in the 1980-90s by what can only be described as a master craftsman this car is the definition of a traditional hot rod in that it was built mostly by hand using available factory, sprint car and aircraft parts. Until this last revamping there was not an offshore or billet part to be found. The 31 body is chopped 2 3/4 and channeled 5" over the hand built A/2x4 chassis which can only be described as a work of art. The body has many subtle mods also including the filled roof, custom rounded visor, welded/filled seams, removed and filled rain gutters and reshaped quarter windows to mirror that on a 32. The trunk lid is a hand made, hand louvered steel item that fits better than an original. The chassis incorporates 4-bar rear suspension on a narrowed Lincoln 9"with machined Lincoln brakes removing 7 pounds from each drum. The rear is triangular braced incorporated a mount for a chute if desired. Front suspension is an original 32 Dago axle drilled and dropped four inches and mounted will all sprint car suspension from the era. There is also an incorporated NHRA/SCTA roll bar and a bolt in funny car style cage is included which mounts to the roll bar. Front brakes are 56 F100 with a ton of lightening holes. Steering is Vega style with a step up to Borgeson steering shaft. The engine is a 66 .040 over 327 with 10.5 KB pistons along with the best of parts available at the time, runs like a watch with the recently rebuilt 3-2s. Transmission is a B&M Hydrostick T350 and works very well. This last winter much work was completed updating the car including all four radial tires, motor mount biscuits and the steering shaft. The most extensive update was to the fuel system. It has been completely replaced starting with a new aluminum tank/cell to a new electric boost pump, shut-off valve, micro filter, AN line to a new Carter pump to stainless line and the carbs. Brake system and cooling systems were drained, flushed and refilled. There is much more to the car, just look at the photos. This is not a fire sale so low ball efforts will be ignored. Until recently there were no plans to sell this car but s... happens. As always, absolutely no test pilots and trades are not invited but those with large amounts of green will be investigated.
