Description for Ford F-100 1976
This 1976 Ford F100 step-side pickup is certainly an unusual find, especially with that handsome black paint job, red interior, and a torquey 302 under the hood. With a great color combination and no signs of hard labor in its past, it's a unique opportunity to pick up an often overlooked piece of Ford history, and at a great price point. You've seen other mid-70s Ford pickups clattering and rattling down the interstate, held together with wire... and duct tape, but you probably haven't seen one this nice. From the shiny black paint, which is not quite how the factory did it, to the attractive stepside bed, this truck has been well maintained and nicely preserved almost from day one. The stepside bed gives it a rare and sporting attitude, as if those bulging fenders were there for performance reasons rather than convenience. Finish quality is quite nice for an old pickup, with the black paint applied professionally and to a higher driver-quality standard, and we love the way it looks. There's a bit of chrome, including the front bumper that's probably original and the newer diamond-plate rear bumper. This was one of the last pickup lines with a real wood floor, and this one has been refinished to look slick, but it's also ready for work. The beautiful red interior offers plush carpets and a fabric seat cover that gives the F-100 an upscale feel. The upholstered seat has been well-cared for, and it looks extra cool in the working-class pickup cab. Everything remains in good condition with very, very little wear, including the carpets. The wood-rimmed steering wheel helps class up the joint, and while column-shifted automatic transmission is a throwback to an earlier era, it moves through the gears neatly and fits this truck's personality just fine. The options list is light, as were many trucks from this era, but that's how it was with pickup trucks in the days before they were luxury cruisers, although an added set of gauges has been installed under the dash. There is no radio, but that means you can install the entertainment system of your choice in the factory dash position. Ford's rugged and torquey 302 cubic inch V8 provides motivation, and it does just as good a job here as it did in the Mustangs where it was called the 5.0. Of course, it's hard to leave a performance-oriented V8 alone, so it was recently rebuilt and fitted with a new Holley carburetor atop an Edelbrock intake, although both components have been hidden under a chrome open-element air cleaner. Matching chrome valve covers brighten up the engine bay, and the Ford Blue paint reminds you who built this one every time you open the hood. With a swell of torque and a wonderful sound from the headers and dual exhaust system, you'll enjoy piloting this big truck as much as any vintage muscle car. The transmission was rebuilt at the same time as the engine, and the stock suspension still works well, both as a truck and as a fun vehicle to drive. As you'd expect, the chassis is quite clean, showing only signs of age but not abuse. Four fat 235/75/15 Goodyear Wrangler radials have been fitted to a set of shiny aluminum bullet-hole wheels to complete the high-impact look. For those who appreciate something a little out of the ordinary, while also delivering plenty of performance and fun, this F-100 is for you. Step-sides don't pop up all that often, this one should fly out of our showroom! Call today!
