Description for Ford Thunderbird 1965
All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance. I can assist with financing and transport as needed. The Ford Thunderbird has been through many different designs since its introduction in 1955, but the fourth generation (1964-66) is my favorite. It combines a roomy interior with a clean, sleek look that doesn't resort to design gimmicks, excessive chrome, or other such trends of the era. Throw in a 390 cubic inch motor along with a silky smooth ride and you've got a... real gem. This 1965 Landau coupe is a remarkable rust-free car from the southwest. It is a real cream puff, having spent 45 years with its last owner! It includes a large stack of records including the sales receipt from 1973. The car received one high quality repaint in its original color of Ivy Green Metallic. It has a very elegant look with just the right amount of trim along with the landau bars and wire wheel covers. It also includes the factory fender skirts which were painted with the car.The 390 cubic inch motor has been rebuilt and runs great! Just a flick of the key and it's ready to roll. While the car is a hefty 4,700 pounds, this 300 hp setup moves it along nicely (though you won't win many drag races). The Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission and 3.00:1 rear gears make for nice cruising, while the power steering and power front disc brakes keep this Thunderbird easy to drive. Everything has been well maintained over the years and is well documented in a thick folder of receipts. The tan interior has been redone as well and has a very rich look. The carpet, seat covers, and headliner are all new. Note the Swing-Away steering column and unique rear seat with center armrest. All the ribbon style gauges and speedometer function properly except the ammeter. The wipers, radio, horn, heater/defroster, dash lights, courtesy lights, backup lights, map light, and parking brake all work too. The door power windows operate smoothly. And of course there are the fender mounted indicators and sequential turn signals as well. There is a lot to like about this car. Not only is it a great example of a classic Thunderbird, but it is also a reliable automobile you can drive anywhere and enjoy. It has a documented history from the right kind of home. And I think it represents a tremendous bargain in the world of classic cars.
