Description for Ford F-100 1957
1957 Ford F-100 SWB Pickup Truck. 272 Y-block V8. 3 on the Tree. 49,600 original miles. So here's the story on this truck:In the Fall of 1957 the Pitt's Sand and Gravel company out of Wichita Falls, Texas, was in need of a new work truck to drive around town and give estimates for concrete and gravel jobs and also needed a well-made pickup truck to handle some of their smaller local deliveries. After a couple weeks of shopping around they settled on this 1957 Ford F100. The truck stayed with the family business up until the mid 1980's when the truck was gifted to a longtime manager upon his retirement. He held ontothe truckthroughoutthe 80's and 90's until his passing, at which time his grandson inherited the truck. Fast forward a few years and the grandson had decided was ready to part ways with the old truck and that's when I acquired the truck last year. The Pitts Sand and Gravel logo is still visible on the passenger door.
Over the past 8 months I have spent countless hours (and far too much $$) on this truck to get it ready to be my daily driver.
Recent work done (all by the old school car guys at Diamond R Auto in Edmond Oklahoma) to the truck includes:
- Freshly rebuilt Holley "94" carburetor
- Gas tank professionally cleaned and lined at Osborn's Radiatorshop in Oklahoma City, OK.
- New fuel sending unit
- New fuel pump + all new fuel lines
- New distributor, coil, wires, & spark plugs
- New radiator (I paid extra for the aluminum one that looks like the stock one, it's not a cheapy generic aluminum one)
- New clutch (slave) & brake master cylinders + new lines
- New brake shoes, drums, hardware, and hoses on all 4 wheels
- New brake lines throughout the entire truck
- Seat was professionally rebuilt and covered by Ace Upholsteryin Oklahoma City, OK.
The truck starts every timeon the first turn and runs strong, 3 on the tree shifts smooth, and has that unique Y-block V8 sound.
All of the dash gauges and exterior lights work as they should (blinkers make noise but no light -probably an easy fix but I just use hand signals in the meantime)
Title it clear and ready to be transferred to next owner.
There is very little rust on this truck. The bed has some surface rust but no rust holes. A small section of the cab floor and steps in the cab had new sheet metal installed at some point. Look at the pictures and video thoroughly and I can provide specific photos upon request.
