Description for Ford Mustang 1987

1987

Mustang GT

5.0L HO

Fox Body Hatchback

Clean and Original

VIN 1FABP41E1HF189938

There's an old saying in the collector car world: Any vehicle can be restored, given enough time and money, but it can only be original once! This 5.0 is pretty much the way it drove off the Ford dealer's lot back in the spring of 1987. The factory paint still looks good and you've gotta love the vintage Crager alloys - a cool old vibe! What you see in my photos is not the result of a detail, this car came to us in this very decent, original condition.

If you have questions or would like to discuss a sale before the end of the Ebay listing, feel free to call, text or email me. My name is Mark and my direct number is 206/914-1173.

Here's how the VIN Code breaks down:

1FA = Ford Motor company, USA Built

B = Active Seatbelts

P42 = Hatchback GT

E = 5.0L (301 CID) 225 HP High Output V8

1 = Check Digit

H = 1987 Model Year

F = Dearborn, Michigan Assembly Plant

This was the 189,938 vehicle built that year.

It's believed the rear axle has 2.73 gears with Traction Lock, the transmission is an AOD.

CONDITION:

The photos really do tell the Mustang's story. I'm always happy when we come across a well-preserved vehicle and are able to offer them here!

Please take another good look at the interior photos. Settle into the driver's seat and you'll quickly recognize that just about everything is factory right down to the door pull handles. The carpets are original and in good condition front and rear. Both front buckets are as the pics show with only a vinyl tear along the upper edge of driver's backrest (it's covered with vinyl tape in the photo). The rear bench is very good. All the dash gauges are almost as clear and bright as the day this car left the assembly line. The former owner replaced the factory radio years ago and I'd suggest upgrading to a more modern unit.

I'm not a body or paint guy, but I don't find evidence of exterior work having been done. Rust isn't an issue because of the mild climate here in western Washington State; our winter roads are never salted. First sign of a snowflake; everyone panics and just stays home! There's NO discernable rust in frame that we've found. Feel free to climb over, under and around this rig - I absolutely know you'll come up smiling! The only corrosion I've come across is along the sides of the rear hatchback door. It's been stabilized and touch-up paint applied. Same goes for external scratches and chips. Both headlights, the front marker and turn signal assemblies are clear and bright as new. Absolutely no fogging as you'll find on most of this vintage. It's pretty common to have door hinge issues on these Fox body GT's. The driver's door is fine, but the passenger side could use new hinge pins and an outside pull handle. I will include a hingepin set, along with fresh bushings, to be installed by the next caretaker.

Mechanically, I feel the Mustang is in decent shape. Even after sitting in our warehouse for a few days it starts right up at the first few cranks - you just can't beat the bulletproof 5.0 Liter High Output V-8's that all GT''s and a few LX Fox body cars came with in these years. The AOD automatic transmission sends power to a Traction-Lok differential (with stock 2.73 gears). The overdrive shift is sometimes slow. All four Cooper brand radials have at least 65-70 percent remaining tread. My tech installed new front brake pads this past week along with both an engine and transmission filter + oil change. The sparkplugs were replaced along with the distributor cap and rotor.

Please check the photos over closely and call me with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! Because of the amount of money involved with a vehicle purchase, we reserve the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback. I also ask that potential bidders with a feedback rating of ten or fewer transactions on Ebay contact me before placing a bid. Finally, we may end the auction early if the Mustang is no longer for sale or an acceptable offer has been agreed to. Please feel free to contact me directly thru eBay's message system or, as outlined above, call or text me at 206/914-1173 anytime. My name is MARK.

A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:

Full payment is due by cash (in person only) or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. I can accept credit or debit cards, but I'll first need to send an invoice and ask that you cover the 3.25% fee our card processor charges. Please remember you're bidding to buy and I fully expect the winner to fulfill their Ebay contract! I always encourage bidders to have an inspection done by a professional service if distance keeps you from stopping by yourself. You're not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You're more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.

If you decide to have the Mustang transported home, there are scores of companies to choose from. I ship vehicles regularly and have access to the nationwide wholesale Central Dispatch system. After checking recent shipping prices to a buyer's location, I'm able to post the freight COD and usually can beat the retail prices offered to other Ebay buyers by transport companies. Ultimately, shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER.

I'm able to the store the car free of charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage is $20 per day. The vehicle is being sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. All information described above is based on the observed condition when thelisting was placed. I've done my very best to describe the truck and encourage bidders to contact me with questions before bidding.
