Description for Ford Thunderbird 1955
This car is being sold to settle an Estate in Northern Virginia-20 miles West of D. C. The owner who died this past summer had owned this car since 1966. The car has not been driven in 6 years since the owner suffered from Dementia. The car has 77 909 original miles and old lube stickers on the door edge indicate the car had 73. 598 miles in 1978. The car is equipped with 292 V-8. automatic. nbsp;power brakes. power steering . 2 way power seat. AM radio and tachometer. The car is fitted with a white vinyl top along with it's original hardtop. The Data Plate reads as follows:Body-40AColor-RTrim-BProduct Code-7CPI136This car has always been garaged. One repaint in original red sometime around 1980. In its present condition the car will run and "yard drive" but obviously will need the carburetor overhauled. brakes serviced and all systems checked over. The motor does not knock or smoke. We have driven the car around the access road by our warehouse and noted that the headlights and turn signals work-no brake lights. Wipers will nudge but the vacuum motor needs servicing. Tachometer works. Radio hums. One function of the power seat works-the other just buzzes. The underside of the car has never been undercoated. All original inner and outer rocker panels are still intact and in very good condition. The car has some scratches and nicks in the paint-most notably on the drivers side. One body mount/stringer-on the passenger side has some rotted edges as shown in the photographs and there is some light surface rust in the truck under the area of the spare tire-however that is the extent of any rust. Please examine the undercarriage photographs-this is an extremely solid car. The interior is very presentable-and may of been refitted in the Eighties. The front windshield has several small scratches. At one point several years ago the hood was bent slightly and the family had the hood repaired / metal finished by a professional body man in preparation for repainting- however the car was never painted as the owners health declined. The original chrome on this car will clean up nicely. We could not find any skirts for the car in the garage. The car has sported the Cragar Mags since the Seventies-however the 5 original steel wheels and four original hubcaps will convey with the car. The original boot and carry bag was still in the trunk. The front bumper overriders. grille and hood scoop-not seen on the car will convey and are shown in another photo. Clear Virginia title to convey. This car could be made into a very presentable driver with minimal effort and would be a great candidate for restoration. Payment in certified funds is due within 7 days of auction conclusion and removal within 14 days of auction conclusion. This car runs well enough to load into a trailer but is not roadworthy for any extended distance. I can assist in making car available to car transport agencies. Please call Estate Rep Nick Arrington @ 703-966-8422 with questions or to make an appointment to inspect this automobile
