Description for Ford Mustang 1965
There's a hierarchy when it comes to 1965 Ford Mustangs, and the K-Code HiPo 289 is king. This was inaugural year for the highly sought-after convertible, so having one with all the best V8 pedigree under the hood, four speed, and great presentation inside & out means you're looking at rare pony car royalty. There's just something about a Vintage Burgundy Mustang. The apropos name and regal shine makes it a popular tie-in with this icon. A solid... investment in a factory-correct respray on this car means it pops just as nicely in the sunlight as it did the day it left the Dearborn factory doors over fifty years ago. Perfect it is not, but it certainly presents very well. But beyond that popular Mustang hue, this car gets its details right. The trim is complete and brightly shining; the gaps are tight and uniform; and the doors hang correctly and shut with a reassuring 'thunk'. Correct badging all around, including the 289 emblems and prancing ponies on the fenders look great, and give no indication of the special piece of machinery under the hood. The black convertible top is in great shape and easily retracts for fun in the sun. Plus, the iconic Mustang steel wheels with shiny hubcaps and correct thin whitewall tires all tell you this convertible is the total package for those who really care about authentic and rare Mustangs. The interior has been tailored to coordinate with the burgundy finish outside and provides the perfect complement to this drop-top. The black bucket seats and matching door panels add a touch of class, and with the interior being recently restored, everything is in great condition. Boldly protruding from in between the front buckets is the stick shift, practically begging the driver to hammer down some shifts. That will be your favorite place for your right hand, and your left one will love the gloss black classic 3-spoke steering wheel. Beyond that is the full gauge panel, which features crisp, clean instrumentation. So yes, these pictures are correct... This Mustang looks and feels period correct and premium right down to the AM radio and heat/defrost controls. Out back is a spacious trunk featuring a period-correct mat that's in great shape. As much as you'll love the interior and exterior, it's the rare K-code HiPo 289 cubic-inch V8 under the hood that will impress even the most fickle Mustang enthusiast. It's the motor that took home the trophies around the globe, and from what we can tell, this is likely the original powerplant living in this engine bay. All the HiPo goodies are there, from the correct K-code heads, the correct intake manifold, and to the correct Autolite 4100 carb, just to name a few. It shows all signs of great care, foregoing too much racy flash and instead sticking to a nice and tidy factory appearance. With the turn of the key, the Flowmaster dual exhaust gives a high power V8 symphony, and the smooth shifting four-speed makes you the conductor. The Ford nine-inch rear end has versatile 3.50 gears to give it plenty of punch around town but still cruises reasonably at highway speeds. The aforementioned whiteline tires and front disc brakes means both a classic appearance and good road-holding. There were only 7,273 K-Code '65 Mustangs ever made. Just think about how many have been harvested or abused over the last half-century, and then you realize what a treasure a complete and cared for car this convertible really is. Rare opportunities like this are fleeting, and forever regretted when missed, so call today!!!
