Description for Ford Other 1947

This 1947 Ford coupe has been converted from a standard Ford product into a true restomod. North Carolina has issued a clear title naming this as a Ford Street Rod. The work is almost completed – but when ever is a restomod really complete. But, it’s ready to hit the street as an every day ride, a weekend cruiser or a drive to church on Sunday. The restomod was started before I got involved with this project. The first record of work that I am aware of is the drive train upgrade performed by Texas Classics and Customs of Waterford, TX. I bought this vehicle from them in November 2017. Their creative experts had performed the following transformations:1. Removed the original front suspension and installed a Mustang II unit with disc brakes.2. Removed the flathead engine and installed a 1997 F150 4.2L V-6.3. Three speed manual gearbox exchanged for an automatic 4R70W transmission.4. Replaced the radiator with an aluminum unit with electric fan cooling. On-Off switch is mounted on the dash.5. Upgraded rear end installed. I believe it to be from the same 1997 F150 as the engine and transmission.
After I received the car, I have completed the following restoration tasks and modifications:1.Replaced front seats with racing style buckets from Jegs.2.Installed 4-point racing seat belts on the Jegs seats.3.Installed Lokar FMS64R70WBM shifter.4.Fabricated and installed a center console with storage compartment, two drink holders and fire extinguisher.5.Installed “matching” vinyl rear seat with integral seat belts. Seat repurposed from a modern SUV.6.Installed Berber carpet – front, rear and trunk.7.Designed and installed pleated vinyl kick panels, front door and rear inserts.8.Replaced missing or corroded door and window handles with modern aluminum billet design. Repaired driver’s side window regulator.9.Replaced steering wheel with 13 ½” Grant 3-spoke wheel.10.Instrument panel modified with modern instruments including: volt meter, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, oil pressure. Speedometer is GPS based. Battery powered clock installed.11.Added turn signals, front and rear. Four-way flasher included.12.Modified rear bumper width and position.13.Installed dual tone horns.14.Fabricated a filler panel in front between the fenders below the grill.15.Added driving/fog lights to new filler panel in front.16.Installed a shaved hood.17.Touched up paint with matching paint to the original Grabber Blue color of the car as it was when I received it from Texas Classics. Grabber Blue was used in various years on Mustangs and Mercury Comets.18.Installed basic radio with center speaker. Radio is capable of operation with four speakers. Remote control is included.19.Installed a new headliner with matching wind lacing and sun visors.20.Dash and window garnish trim painted with smokey beige Rustoleum.21. Installed 2-speed electric windshield wiper system.Remaining work to be done is minor and will not prevent the car from being enjoyed and employed in any way. Modifications potential remains unlimited. Race fans may want to consider upgrading to a modern 302 or 351 V-8. Purists may want to go back to a flathead V-8. The sky’s the limit.
