EVERY component was removed. disassembled. and either made as good as or better than new. or replaced with new and/or NOS (New Old Stock) parts. The results are stunning. NOT FOR EVERYONE. this car is definitely not for just "any" collector. It is intended for the most discriminating and fussy of enthusiasts. NEVER DRIVEN BEYOND BRIEF (LESS THAN ONE MILE) TESTING. the odometer was re-set during the restoration. In most every respect. the car is better than new. The current owner decided that the car should be preserved and not driven beyond less than a mile of testing. SPECIAL NOTES ON THIS CAR. though authenticity was a primary restoration objective. it was decided to provide 12V power for more reliable operation via a specially made battery that provides 12V but has all the appearance features of the factory-installed 6V version! One other concession to personal preference was the installation of the deluxe 1956 Thunderbird signal-seeking Town & Country radio. Finally. 1955 Thunderbirds were sold new with the Hardtop as a standard feature. a soft-top was an option. There is no soft-top provided with this car. INVESTMENT POTENTIAL. perhaps no 1950s classic has more secure status as an American icon than the very first Thunderbird. introduced in late 1954 for the 1955 model year. Ford successfully created an entriely new category of automobile. the "personal" luxury car. Unlike the Corvette of 1953. the Thunderbird sported a standard V8 and such luxury touches as an adjustable steering column. power seat. and hardtop! Options such as power windows and wire wheel covers really made the sleek new car a luxurious looker that got noticed everywhere and has never lost its appeal.
