We are offering a once in a life time opportunity of a part of California history of one of the rarest example's of an original un-restored 1960 Ford Sunliner convertible. This was a special promo car ordered from the Oakland zone office DSO #72 built in San Jose California that was acquired nearly 60 years ago from famed California classic Lincoln collector, author and long time Pebble Beach judge Jack Passey of Freedom California.This is a true California car from birth built in San Jose on January 30th 1960 as a promo car with the optional "Y" code 300 horsepower Thunderbird 352-300 HP V-8 4 barrel in one year only Goldenrod Yellowwith Cruise-O Matic with 2.91 rear end finished in Corinthian white with special Red/Black interior and a white convertible top.
This car has never traveledmore than 100 miles from where it was built in San Jose California nearly 60 model years ago.

The 1960 full size Fords abandoned the ostentatious ornamentation of the 1950's for a futuristic sleek look. The 1960 Ford looked all-new with twin headlights riding in a scalloped square front clip around taillights were replaced by half-moon shaped taillights for 1960 only. There were tail-fins still, but smaller ones- the focus of Ford's stylists abandoning, as did the rest of the industry the aviation influences of the previous decade and instead capturing the new obsession-THE SPACE RACE.The Galaxie name was particularly appealing to this trend.

Cosmetically this Sunliner is a true survivor. The car is in absolutely fantastic original condition. The body is very solid and straight there are no areas of rust holes or body work. The paint is in fantastic condition shines nicely there are no faded areas. The paint is original and is a testament to the quality of paint in 1960 as well as being preserved out of the elements in a climate controlled building. The chrome is in great shape and shines nice with no pitting. All the glass is original and free of any cracks. The only negatives are a few little dings here and there which is expected for being almost 60 years old. The top goes up and down and in good shape there is a rip at the seam on the passenger side. This is a beautiful car that is in great cosmetic shape for never being restored and almost 60 years old. This Sunliner is one of those finds with an originality that cannot be duplicated.

Stepping into the Sunliner is like stepping back into time. The colors and design of the interior from the seats to the dash just epitomizes 1960 in America. Starting with the original door panels, there are no rips or damage they are in great shape. The original dash looks awesome all the polished gauges and trim pieces are clear and in good shape, there are no cracks in the dash. The last California registration card from 1978 is still wrapped around the steering column. The original carpet is in good shape with no holes or ripped areas. Sitting in the seats is like sitting in an old American diner; they look beautiful and are plush with no rips or tears. All the lights are functional, the radio works as well as the heater. The original convertible boot mostly buttons on, it is tight but will fit it is not dried up and hard. The interior matches the exterior in originality and condition. A 59 year old convertible with an original interior in this vibrant condition is very hard to come by.

Mechanically this car runs and drives. It is the original 352 motor with original yellow paint. The motor had a recent oil change and runs and drives. It shifts into all gears and reverse. The car stops as it should. It is 59 years old and has been sitting for decades the car is in good mechanical condition but given the time its been sitting and overall age a good tune up would be recommended.
