Description for Ford Mustang 1971
I have a 1971 Mustang Mach 1 clean and clear title that I bought in September for my 40th birthday. Plan was to restore it but with a 5 month old baby, 3 other kids, work, etc I just don't have the time I thought I would. And unfortunately I don't see me having time anytime in the future. The car was running when I bought it and I drove it off the trailer into my garage. My plan was to start from the bottom and go up. I removed the exhaust and rear end. Cleaned up the rear end and bought a rear end rebuild kit (still new in box) along with a traction lok, 3.50 and 4.11 gears (all not installed and in box). Also comes with brand new Mach 1 black carpet for the interior. New red headliner installed.Car currently has a 351 Windsor in the car, and I bought a 429 Thunderjet motor with 4v high compression heads and edlebrock performer intake, etc. 429 big block was rebuilt years ago and pulled apart to paint and clean up to look nice. But its still in pieces. My plan was to ditch the windsor and put in the 429.Exterior of the car is in good shape, couple small dings here and there but overall great shape. Very minor surface rust on underside. Interior needs work, but seems to all be there. Car was originally a red car and at some point was painted yellow. Primer was applied overtop everything but would need to be completely sanded down in order to paint.
I really do not know a ton about the car because I didn't get around to doing a whole lot to it. But from what I could always tell, it was solid.
THE BAD: no battery, no exhaust past the headers and the rear end and rear brakes have been removed. One of the rear leaf springs was damaged and thrown away. So I only have 1 rear leaf spring. Wasn't a big deal to me because I was planning to replace the entire underside suspension, brakes, etc. But since I have basically given up. The rear end is not currently installed on the car. I am not exactly sure how you would get this on a trailer to tow it. But I am sure its possible and willing to help in anyway I can. I just really didn't want to invest more money into suspension pieces and put it back together knowing I was giving up on the project. If you are local or plan to come and pick it up. I am willing to spend and afternoon with you and assisting in whatever is needed to get it back on wheels.
If you have any questions at all, please let me know and I will do my best to answer them.
