Description for Ford F-100 1962

1962 Ford F100
This is a cool old ford with the big back window and unibody options. If you are unfamiliar with the ford unibody, the cab and box are one section. They aren't separate like most classic and modern pickup trucks. I've had this ford for a couple years. I'm not sure how many unibodies were made with the big window, but I rarely see them. The window is really cool and has some nice stainless around it. This is a california truck out of bakersfield. It still had the black plates on it when I got it. The pickup was brought north years ago, and then just sat waiting for a restoration that never happened. It has a solid body. V8 and factory auto. These trucks look nice fixed up and this truck is nicely optioned for a higher value when restored. I planned to put the body on a highboy '79 chassis, but more projects than time.Below are all the details. Clear title. Original owners manual. Feel free to ask questions. I can help with the shipping process if needed. Thanks and happy bidding.

MECHANICAL
This pickup has the optional 292 V8 with factory auto transmission. 2-barrel carburetor. The engine runs good. It needs work to be a driver. The master cylinder for the brakes is bad. They are cheap,I just needed this out of my shop so I never got to the brakes. The engine runs good. It does not smoke or have any abnormal knocks or ticks. No leaks of concern but it has the usual old-car seepage from gaskets. The carburetor needs rebuilt. The throttle shaft and accelerator pump shafts are sticky, making it difficult to drive. I just drove it on my driveway to test the transmission. New fuel pump. It's running on the original tank. There is a saddle tank that is not connected. I would personally remove it so I could fill the filler tube hole. I guess you can decide on that. The truck will need brake work, tuneup, carb rebuilt, fluids flushed, filters changed, and basic maintenance from sitting. This had a remote oil filter on it and the lines were cracking. I disconnected the filter so you'll need to use the original filter mount or get a new remote filter. The engine has good oil pressure to. It needs new tires. It will need a battery. 4-barrel intakes are around and available used for these engines. I've never built a y-block but I know people do performance mods/builds on them. This truck has the Frigiking A/C unit that was probably a dealer installed option.I'm sure it needs charged and upgraded to r134.

INTERIOR
The interior is in good condition. The seat looks good but the foam is stiff. It should be recovered. The springs seem fine and the fabric is in ok shape if you want to use it as-is. The dash area isn't cut up. Original radio. It came on but I don't get any am stations where I am, so I couldn't really test it. This has a rare aftermarket Aiphone on the dash. which I believe was a wireless intercom. Doors and glass are in good shape. Windshield is cracked but usable. Doors close as they should. Pics pretty much tell the story. The floormat is even usable and original
BODY
The body on this truck is solid overall. It has a couple rust spots that I'll detail. This has rust where the floor meets the kick panel. This is common on the '61-'66 bodystyle fords like this. Many repair panels are made and I'm sure the parts are reproduced for this area. Exploded views are available online of all the cab parts that are reproduced. There is rust in the box on the drivers side, behind the door a little bit. This is a common spot to rust on unibodies. There is a design there that traps water/dirt. There is very minor rust-through there on the outer skin. The drivers side does not have this rust. Both box sides appear to have been painted at some point. No heavy filler but some light. This was painted a LONG time ago. If there was any heavy filler, it would have cracked by now but I've inspected the whole truck with a paint thickness meter also. There is minor rust on the top of the floorpans but they are solid and don't need re-done. There is rust on the passenger side door skin, in the low front corner. This is an easy and fast repair. The only other rust is the battery tray and rust in the inner fender directly under that. The inside of the box has no rust. It is clean. Tailgate is missing one lower hinge. I will make sure it's secured well for shipping. There are old hydraulic lines coming up through the box floor. I don't know what these were for but probably a camper or something in it at some point. They aren't functional, I just never got around to taking them out. The truck was factory undercoated. I have many undercarriage pics and pics of the body from underneath. The body is clean and white like new when you chip the undercoating off.
