Description for Ford F-250 1978
This truck does not currently run! Buyer beware! Project truck! So here's the story. I bought this truck in 1999 with the original dying 300 inline 6 with a 1 barrel carburetor. Drove it to work every day for a year until the 6 cyl. engine blew. At that point, in 2000, I bought a builder 1978 460 from a Lincoln town car, and a 400M bell-housing. That engine got a full master overhaul kit, bored, tanked, surfaced, machined, and ran great for 19 years up until a few weeks ago. Skip back to 2006, my wife and I were doing an addition/remodel on our house, and we needed the extra money. I reluctantly sold my truck to a good friend of mine. He drove it for the next 13 years until the 460 died. He removed all the factory "race track" trim and threw it away. Didn't like the way it looked.??? Also cut out the bed wheel well arches. My mouth just dropped, but what can you do? I got a call a couple of weeks ago from him informing me the motor let loose. I was feeling kinda nostalgic over my old truck and had unrealistic dreams of putting this back together. The reality is, my older, overweight body no longer wants to lay under a vehicle, wrestling transmission input shafts and clutches. The jump up into the cab is also a bit of a challenge now. LOL. So here it is. I would like to see it go to a good home. Not too many of these 78's left that don't either cost 20K fully restored, or are so rusted out, they aren't worth restoring. This is a solid foundation. New custom aluminum radiator. Recent new carburetor,Edlebrock intake manifold, and HEI distributor. L&L industries flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate. Custom built driveshafts. 4 inch spring lift. Factory 4.10 gears. Newly reupholstered seat and headliner. Excellent door panels.New heater core and blower motor. New starter, alternator, and voltage regulator.New Windshield. Nice CD player. Frame has no rust. In fact, Colorado is extremely forgiving when it comes to rust.I could go on and on, but the bottom line is it is now nothing more than a project. Perfect father and son project. I am starting out the bidding at a realistic 2,000. And believe me, you can't build what is sitting here for $2,000. Don't forget adding the hours just to locate the correct parts to make it a complete truck. I may be wrong, if so, I guess it will just sit. I think it deserves another chance. You can call me at (970)214-0979 with any questions. Thanks, Chris
