Description for Ford F-100 1979
The 1979 F-Series pickups are already held in high regard for collectors, but not all of them even know about the Ford F-100 Indianapolis Speedway Package. It makes for a rare truck (less than 650 made) that is instantly desirable. So to find a one-owner, low-mileage example is absolutely irresistible.Fords were a rare appearance at the Indy 500 during this era, but they weren't going to miss 1979. It was the debut year for the new Mustang, and they were out to make an impact. So they pulled out all the stops, and even made a special truck to go with the pony car. This is one of those few Official Truck packages. They were originally pewter with black, orange, and red graphics. Instead, this one is toned down for more modern times. It has a newer application of the slick black, color-matched bumpers, blacked out grille, and a shining front trim. It still keeps its Indy 500 style with tasteful badging on the fender. Even the bed is well-done with liner paint and a rubber mat. It all has the quality look you want in a one-owner pickup that has averaged less than 1,600 miles annually. And more than just look great, you always get to talk about rarity. It's believed there were less than 6,000 Indy Official Trucks produced over the whole F-series line, which represents less than one percent of total production. And an F-100 like this is only one of 645 ever made!
The Indy 500 trucks were also given a unique look inside, and you see all of that quite nicely in this well-preserved interior. Black with silver inserts and red accents looks absolutely bold (it was inspired by the Free Wheeling Fords of the prior years.) With the door panels, dash, and carpeting all looking so crisp and clean, you'll happily show off this special package. This is also loaded with the best features of the time, like an AM/FM stereo, sliding rear window, and cold-blowing air conditioning.
Under the hood is a very honest and original-style presentation of the 302 cubic-inch V8. So it's easy to believe when the truck's only owner says it's the original motor and it has never been out of the truck. Even the jack is still strapped to the inner fender. But originality doesn't mean missing out on maintenance. You can see this is well-respected, right down to the newer hoses, plugs, wires, and gaskets. The engine fires up nicely, and it feels solid on the road. Plus, you've got great driving features, like the power steering, a three-speed automatic transmission, and power brakes with front discs. The Indy 500 package even meant dual fuel tanks to help you go further.
The sale comes complete with the photos from when this special truck was originally purchased. You're looking at a one-owner southern truck with serious rarity. So don't let this opportunity slip away. Call today!!!
