Description for Ford Falcon 1968
This 1968 Ford Falcon Futura is one of the most attractive and seldom-seen American cars from the '60s. So when you can find an example that has been under the same family's care all its life, and also includes V8 power, you know this is right mix of value and distinction you'll love. The third-generation Falcon is arguably one of Ford's best designs of the era. After all, it takes the American Coke-bottle sheetmetal styling and adds some European flair. So there's already has appeal before you take a closer look at this example. The trim tag tells us this is presented in its correct red and white two-tone, which instantly gives this Sport Coupe some classic distinction. Big chrome bumpers, turbine-style wheel covers, and straight/complete side trim all show a great vintage style. This has been under the care of the same family all of its life, and you can tell they really respected this car in its overall presentation. It's in the details everywhere from the way the trunk still fits into the intricate design, to how the sheetmetal crisply defines the outstretched fenders that seem to point the way forward.
A red interior is always a nice look for a classic cruiser, and the condition here is part of the advantage of single family care. The carpeting, door panels, dash, headliner, and seats all look quite nice. The total presentation is mindfully stock with good preservation and any replacements were done with the correct pieces. It feels good to get into the bucket seat, grab the deluxe factory wheel, and look at the full driver-oriented gauge panel that Fords of this era were famous for offering. While this really captures the classic style nicely - right down to the AM radio that's still on display - you have the option to make this a more comfortable cruiser thanks to provisions for air conditioning (it will need servicing to blow ideally cold again.)
The engine bay continues that cool stock look that's the hallmark of this car. This is a C-code Falcon, and it continues to have the correct 289 cubic-inch V8. The family states this is the original motor, and it really has that bright blue Ford factory look we love. It fires up and runs with the kind of quality you want in a family heirloom, and for a true classic driver's touch, you control the V8 with a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. It feels exceptionally nice going down the road, and you even have the right cruising features like power steering, modern tires, and power brakes w/discs up front.
Since this car has a great history, it also comes with great documentation, like the original warranty card, owner's manual, maintenance records, and service manuals. We just don't see too many 3rd gen Falcons anymore, so to have a well-preserved one with a story to tell makes for a great all-around classic. Call today!!!
