Description for Ford Model A 1928
Vehicle DetailsUp for NO RESERVE ABSOLUTE AUCTION I have a beautiful 1928 Ford Model A sport coupe. This is a spectacular car that you can’t stop for gas or at the store without getting mobbed with questions or pcs.
This car had a frame off complete restoration 20 years ago and still looks outstanding. It has the desired rumble seat. Zero rust. This car is as good as it looks in the pictures there are flaws that I will mention because I hate traveling from states away or having a car shipped to find it’s wasn’t as advertised.
Mechanically . This car doesn’t sit longer then a week during the summer. I drive it for short trips around town to car shows or dinner. I’ve never had another mechanical brake car to compare it to but I would like it to stop better but it stops safely and the hand brake works really well. I’ve never adjusted the linkage on the brakes.
Trans and clutch shifts as a no syncretic trans should. The engine stars quickly and easily with a quick pull of the choke and kit of the starter. Starts with no smoke knocks or ticks. I just recently battled a rear main leak that got increasily worse over the summer. Many people said it doesn’t have a seal just a slinger to push oil away from the bell housing and that my oil return line could be plugged. I removed it cleaned last week and leak went away while running and I have a few drips that may be residual when I shut it off. I am not confident it is gone or will not return so please just know it may have some oil drips from the rear of the engine but is good right now. All fluids are clean, new battery this year and I have hand crank started just say I could lol.
Interior is near flawless. I have one tear in the rubber mat by clutch pedal when I pulled it up to remove battery, seat, top inside is perfect condition
Top is in excellent shape, you can see where the material needs to be put back in the rear window trim that I pictured.
Paint and body are except for chips along the hood hinges from the hood being opened and shut. You can see chips above the rumble seat handle from where it was shut with the handle in closed position which chipped paint. I will likely get touch up paint this week for it but I didn’t want to hide anything. Tires are like new no dry rotting. Chrome is all nice except for the grille shell. You can see in pic that the first layer of chime is peeling .
Electrical, the headlights do not come on as of this year, I have not looked into it to see if it is switch or wire. The brake like does not work and I just saw the wire for it was hanging when I was looking at oil leak. Speedometer does not work. I’m sure non of these things are major or expensive or hard…..it’s a model A doesn’t get much more simple. I have a video of the car walk around and driving but it wouldn’t let me post because it wants be to directly upload on to site as videoing. I’ll see if it will let me do that soon in editing.
I’ve been as honest as I can because I don’t want any surprises, I want you to be as happy with the car as me and my family have. I have clean clear Missouri title in my name.
