He started with a very solid California car. This one was built to be a driver. not a garage queen or a concours judged car. The effort on this one was to be a nice. reliable and enjoyable weekend driver. The upgrade that sets this Fairlane apart is the Hart's front clip. This kit eliminates the shock towers. adds disc brakes and a Power Rack & Pinion. This Fairlane steers easily and drives like a dream. Easily comfortable at highway speeds with a crisp & firm wheel. The previous owner had a '66 GT Fairlane with rust issues so the GT was parted out into this car. The body was shipped in from Sunny California for the build. It had already been stripped. painted and a Hart's front suspension installed. It appears that the only floor repair was a portion on the passenger front floor pan. otherwise this car appears to be all original metal. The base/clear paint looks nice with a deep luster and a good shine. Inside the interior has been completely refinished with new seat upholstery. carpet. headliner. door panels and more. These cars were trimmed out very well from the factory and this restored interior looks great. The dash bezel was completely rechromed and the instrument faces restored. The electrical systems work nicely. Heater. wipers. lights (including back up lights). gauges. etc all work nice and properly. The wiring is clean as well. Under the hood the 390 was professionally rebuilt. receipt documentation is included. Hardened exhaust seats were added for unleaded fuel. A Comp 268 cam was used and has just a nice lope at the idle. see video walk around. Factory 427 style adjustable rocker arms help with the increased lift & duration of the Comp Cam. A large 7 quart capacity Canton Road Race Oil Pan was installed to clear the rack & pinion. It provides the oiling protection that the FE engine family truly needs. The exhaust is a brand new system with Flowmaster mufflers. sounds amazing. The ignition system is upgraded with a Mallory distributor. The engine is otherwise stock right down to the Rare 715cfm Factory Holley Carburetor and GT exhaust manifolds. The rear differential is the original 3. 50 ratio 9" with a limited slip carrier from the original big block car. It works nicely and is a great option to have. The 17" BOSS 338 wheels fit perfectly in the Fairlane's narrow wheel wells while allowing the use of 245 45 Falken tires at each corner without rubbing. The 245's provide excellent straight line traction and cornering capabilities well beyond any standard 15" tire available. There is a folder of receipts that come with the car documenting much of the build. There are tons of misc receipts for decals. emblem. lights & minor restoration items that really add up with the sheer volumen of receipts. There are also many receipts for larger items. This would be a very hard car to reproduce for the cost.
