Description for Ford Thunderbird 1961

Up For Auction:1961 Ford ThunderbirdAs of this Listing we have lost the ability to store this car (and several other cars also on EBAY) indoors so it needs to go. This was my Great Uncles Car. He Bought it used in the mid sixties and seldom drove it. In the mid 70's someone broke the passenger side window out. For one reason or another it was parked in their garage and never driven again. We extracted it from that garage several years ago. 3 days after we removed this car from that garage it was in for over 30 years it was completely smashed by a neighbors LARGE tree in a storm (just a neat sidenote). THE GOOD:Car is complete and unmolested. Electrical system seems to work other than window/seat motors are all frozen. 390 FE Motor turns over (tested with battery). I never tried to get it to run as I am sure the entire fuel system is shot. C6 Transmission and 9" rear end. Dash Cluster in great shape. Tilt away steering works correctly. Lots of other useable interior parts. Seats will need recovered. AC System is complete. Lots of the stainless and chrome is good or restorable. Everything above the trim line looks very nice and shows it in pictures. Garage had cats living in it so no mice. THE BAD: Car was an Indiana Car from day one and saw road salt (those snow tires were on it when we got it). Most body panels have at least some rust. The rear quarters are the worst. Doghouse needs patchwork here and there. Floors feel pretty solid. but the car sits 3" off the ground and I have never had it on a lift to confirm. Trunk is solid until you get to the inner qtr panels then they start to look like the outer qtr panels. Passenger Door Glass is Shattered. Stainless frame is good. This car needs a total restoration. but would make an excellent project or parts car for someone else's Thunderbird. A clean stock bore 390 is worth the starting bid these days. I encourage any serious bidders to contact me through ebay and leave a callback number and I will answer any questions in a timely manner. Please give this car a good home. Thanks for Looking. Car has no warranty or guarantees. Winning Bidder pays $250 deposit. Winning Bidder is responsible for Pickup and transportation from 46341 Indiana. Car is on a gravel driveway ready to be loaded on a car trailer. Car is heavy. Would recommend a trailer with a winch. All Tires hold air well. On Mar-17-15 at 14:24:06 PDT. seller added the following information: I was getting more pictures of the other cars so I figured I would get a picture of the trunk. and the BIGGEST TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER I HAVE EVER SEEN. Also got a better picture of the engine. Pictures Added. Thanks for all the interest. On Mar-18-15 at 18:05:52 PDT. seller added the following information:Adding this so everyone knows. This was my Great Uncle's car. My Great Aunt (who is still alive) gave it to us several years ago but we never pressed her about finding the title. NOW she is having trouble finding the title. MY AUNT IS STILL ALIVE AND SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM GETTING A DUPLICATE COPY IF SHE CAN'T FIND IT. AT WORST IT IS A TEMPORARILY LOST TITLE IF AT ALL. WE WILL PRODUCE A TITLE OR PROOF A NEW ONE IS IN THE WORKS OR THE HIGH BIDDER'S MONEY WILL BE REFUNDED 100% NO HASSLE. I VALUE MY FEEDBACK. IF THIS IS A PROBLEM TO ANY CURRENT BIDDER PLEASE CONTACT ME. THANKS. JOHNOn Mar-19-15 at 11:38:07 PDT. seller added the following information:One person inquired about the floor boards. They are solid and undercoated but i see a good amount of rust on trans tunnel. Trunk floor is decent in the center. Rusty by frame rails and quarters. I spent all morning trying to get the engine to turn and it won't. Took plugs out. Only one plug even looked dry. Engine has oil in it that is black. but no moisture. Shined light in cylinders and they don't look all rusty. So I don't know how stuck it is. It really did crank over 3 or 4 years ago before we put it in storage. I have penetrating oil in the cylinders currently. I will check tomorrow or the next day. If this is a deal breaker to the current high bidder I will refund money and cancel auction. I apologize to all other current bidders.
