Description for Ford Mustang 1971
This is a real 1971 Mustang Mach 1 with matching number 351 Cleveland engine. The engine number is DOAE-L. I bought this car and three others from the son of the collector whom had this and many other nice muscle cars in storage in Georgia. It runs and drives. the paint is a older paint job. the car was originally white. maybe with blue stripes. everything else seems to be original. seats and nice. carpet is nice. dash is not cracked. the gauge lens is yellowed. speedometer works as does most idiot lights. no stereo. no ac. glass is all good as is the weatherstrips. one small rust are in the door jamb where they all seem to have it from the quarter glass leaking. It needs the right side sun visor. I have a rear view mirror new in box along with a new drivers side lower door hinge because the old one is missing the spring. The doors. hood and trunk lid all open and close correctly. the trunk floor is very clean as is the underside of the car. the front bumper is fine but shows signs of being repaired sometime in its life. I bought the car and it started and ran but not well so I took it in to get looked at. It had a sticky valve so I had the heads gone thru and they pulled the engine since its so easy. At that time we found out that it was the original engine for the car. much to my suprise. So I had the Eldebrock intake and holly carb removed and found the correct intake and a new old stock carburator that is correct for the car and had it reassembled. I had the fuel tank pulled and cleaned. the lines blown out. new fuel pump and filter. new plugs and wires. new pwr steering pump. new coil and regulator. then painted the engine and reinstalled in the car. The engine has great compression but I can tell its still a tired engine on the bottom end. I believe it has a cam from the lope in it. You do not see the correct air cleaner in the photo since it will not clear the aftermarket valve covers that are on it now. It needs the correct valve covers for all to fit right. The car shifts nice. no noise from the rear end. the tires are ok but who knows how old. the wheels are pitted a little but new correct wheels can be bought for around $800. 00. It has a new K&N air cleaner. I had it sold on ebay earlier but I could not get the engine to run correctly quick enough and the buyer backed out. So there is the whole story. I have had the car from 05/09/2014. This is a nice car that needs to be restored and loved. I have kept the 68 chevelle SS big block 4 speed and want to start on that one asap. So this one needs to find a new home. The price is OBO. call or email me. 561------889-----2719-----Mike.
