Car has sat . a long. long time. Kids threw a brick thru windshield. Raccoon used seats for a nest. I am told it is a 406. 4 speed. with a 9" rear. Now if you think different. let me know and tell me what to look for. do not want to mislead anyone and I am selling it as unknown. because I really don't know. Looked at tons of photos and compared. This car was pretty cool in its day. Hope someone can see the potential and or something to save on it. If anyone has any idea of how to find out what is what on this car. let me know. I Just posted a ton of photos on the photobucket . hope this helps everyone. this link is safe and goes right to the page. http://s1299. photobucket. com/user/MOPARBROKE/library/GALAXIE%20500%20XL%201963if that is a real G code 406 engine. transmission. rear end car. even with the very rough condition it would be worth bringing back to life…too bad it was so poorly taken care of…the head casting number could possibly read a C3AE-6090 (something letter) since this is a 1963 car…it is an early made car - as the later ones had the fastback rear window roof line and had 427 engines installed to replace the 406 engine…if the bottom of the engine block (above the oil pan on each side) has cross bolts this could be a very very rare car indeed…. again that would mean a lot to a buyer…i have seen worse. but not quite as neglected as this one…black on black XL car with 4 speed is very desirable - the door tag photo could bring in some real collector/bidders if the car is what it says…the distributors can be changed out real easy - as the original with two sets of points was without the vacuum line - are prone to always needing adjustment and the dual points were hard to find after awhile so the owner could have just put in a less desireable but easily tuneable one…wished you were closer than 2700 miles away - it would go a long way in my decision to bid or not…if the floors and trunk are rusted thru and the frame is rusted thru - it might be worth more as a parts unit - but that would be a shame…very few of these G code cars are still running driving units…best wishes alwayssid cREPLY: I Took everything and anything I could imagine. but did not think of going under car. trunk is locked. no keys. bummer. but owner who passed - mechanic friend said it was a 406. 4 speed with a 9" rear. and that in its day was the car to beat. just going by his word. I have no idea. but it is what it is. I will have hubby help me jack the sucker up and try to get photos. for you. the rims where all different. so I measured the one hubcap that I believe goes to the car. hope that helped. I went and decoded the door tag. hope I did that right. Now mechanic guy said the carb and intake where switched out along time ago. I did scratch the top piece and all I got was brown rusty. ha. ha. I tried taking pictures of everything that had numbers on it. hope this helps. And I guess I will be looking for bolts near and oil pan. next. couldn't see below. so used baby powder to see tag above !!!#281639492434 Re: Other: gordt2386 sent a message about Ford : Galaxie XL #281639492434 Actions tarnasky@shaw. ca (tarnasky@shaw. ca) Add to contacts 8:55 PM Photos To: ermabay@outlook. com Show this message.
