Description for Ford Thunderbird 1964
RARE 1964 FORD Samoan Coral Thunderbird T-BIRD Convertible VERY LOW MILES"The One"The rarest of all Thunderbirds was the Sports Roadster . Ford produced them on their third generation vehicles in model years 1962 and 1963. The Sports Roadster included 48-spoke Kelsey Hayes designed wire wheels and a special fiberglass tonneau cover for the rear seats which gave the car the appearance of a two-seat roadster reminiscent of original '50s Thunderbird. A very. very limited number of vehicles with the tonneau cover and wirewheels that set the Roadster apart were completed in 1964 on the heavily revised fourth generation platform. Ford's records reflect that only 1427 Sports Roadsters were made in ’62. 455 in ’63. and only 50 Roadster-like convertibles were made in ’64. The 1962 and 1963 Sports Roadsters were identified by unique VIN numbers. but the limited number of 1964 versions were not technically considered Sports Roadsters. thought they were set apart by the same appointments. Factory optioned 1964 Thunderbird Convertibles came with the Roadster style tonneau cover. 14” Kelsey Hayes wire wheels and a fender skirt delete package. Dealer installed cars came with the tonneau cover but with fender skirts and 15” steel wheels. wheel covers with knock-off hubs (spinners) because the original Kelsey Hayes wire wheels interfered with the fender skirts. The 1964 Thunderbird was the only car to have the word "Thunderbird"on the front hood instead of the image of the Thunderbird. After being Restored to the highest standards in 1994. this classic Thunderbird received its Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Senior Designation In 1995 and won the AACA Grand National 1st Prize in both 1996 and 1998. The recipient of multiple trophies including; Best of Show. Best in Class. First Place. People’s Choice and Best Engine (approximately 60 trophies in total). this car is a key attraction wherever it is shown. If you are looking for a very unique. top of its class. authentic T-Bird. this is "The One". Please call with any questions you may have 805. 390. 3696.
