Description for Ford Other Pickups 1970
This is a increasingly rare find. It is a 1970 Ford F350 factory Crew Cab in unmolested condition with low original miles and one owner. I purchased it from the family of the now deceased original owner who passed away in 1983 and the truck has been in storage since that time with a camper on the truck. The truck was stored in Northern California for the past 32 years. I brought the truck back to Tucson. Arizona earlier this year with plans to put a camper back on it and use it for family trips. I got it running and driving again but I couldn't decide whether to go with stock rims/tires or aftermarket stuff and so I've been just holding off on doing anything else to it until I decided about the rims/tires. In the meantime we have inherited an old vintage cab and chassis motor home which we will be using for our family trips instead of this truck with a camper. So up for sale goes the Crew Cab. I will outline the truck in more detail below: INTERIOR: The interior on the truck is in amazing original condition and really needs nothing inside. All glass is in good condition. Everything seems to be in working order. Radio crackles but I can't get a station but that may be due to the antenna being broken off at the base. All gauges appear to work. All interior lighting works fine. Dash is cracked and would need a cover which is available online and those covers look very good when installed correctly. The original seats are in incredible condition and the original plastic is still on the seat belts as seen in the pictures. All door panels are perfect. Headliner and visors in great shape. All doors open and close with ease and the alignment of the doors is perfect. All windows roll up and down as they should and all doors lock. Factory floor mat is in exceptional condition and shows very little wear. Again. the interior is just amazing and. if you were going to restore the truck. the interior would need nothing which would safe quite a bit of money on the restoration project. EXTERIOR: All original paint and body. never messed with in any way. The exterior of the truck looks WAY worse in the pictures than in person. First of all it appears that ford used a red primer under the original paint. and in some areas gray primer over the red primer before applying the color. Almost all of the red on the truck is the primer that you are looking at NOT RUST! There is rust through on the bottom of the front fenders on both sides as is very common with these trucks but other than that there are no serious rust issues anywhere on the truck. There is surface rust on the top and some on the hood and outside mirrors. Engine compartment also has some surface rust. but let me stress again that there are no serious rust issues anywhere other that the bottom of the fenders. The truck is exceptionally straight with no significant dings or dents anywhere on the truck. If you look down the sides of the truck it's really quite amazing just how straight it is after 45 years. Front bumper is perfectly straight and rear bumper shows surface rust but is straight and usable. The rear bumper has been off the truck due to the camper and was stored outside. Inside of the bed is nearly perfect and the camper really protected the bed over the years. When I got the truck it had a wasp nest up under the bed rail about 4 feet long. never seen anything like it (luckily the wasps were gone). The outside mirrors are in great shape with slight surface rust on the brackets but mirrors are clear and bracket mounting is solid. Front tires are nearly new in terms of usage. but were put on the truck in the early 1980's so they are old. The rear tires same story and the right rear would no longer hold air when I got the truck so I replaced it with the oddball wheel you see in the pics but I still have the original rim to match the other side. The rear wheels are massive 16. 5 x 9. 75 inch rims. The front rims are also 16. 5 inch rims (not sure on width on the front ones). The front grille was stolen out of the truck when it was in storage. I had a decent. but far from perfect shell that I put in it but it needs the two inserts (which are available in reproduction now). Tailgate opens and closes perfectly. MECHANICAL: The truck is all original engine/trans/rearend combination. 360 V8 and automatic trans. Not sure on the gear ratio on the rear but if someone knows how to identify that I would be glad to check on it. Because of the tire situation I have not driven this truck very much. I drive it around the neighborhood and down to the feed store to get hay but have not had it up to highway speeds. It shifts through the gears well and it actually rides very nice for a big truck. When I first got it I replaced all three belts. top and bottom radiator hoses. flushed the engine and radiator. new water pump. thermostat. alternator. battery. air filter. new brake hose on the front left brake (it was cracked) and new oil/filter and air filter. It has massive front disc brakes on the truck and massive drum brakes on the rear. It looks like the carb was rebuilt at one time as it has a Carbshop sticker on it but it may need another rebuild. I don't think the truck is far from being a daily driver but. as with any vehicle that has been sitting that long. it should be gone over in more detail such as wheel bearings repacked and complete brake inspection. The brakes work very well as is. but the components are old and as a safety measure they should be looked at in detail. E brake works fine. Heater has been bypassed and I don't know when or why but it is usually due to a leaky heater core that someone will bypass the heater so that will need to be addressed if you are in a cold weather state. Power steering works well and the truck is very easy to drive. I am an honest eBay member as evidenced by me feedback over the years and I do not want to jeopardize my feedback over this truck. I encourage inspection of the truck before bidding. but if you are familiar with these trucks I think you can make a very good judgement on it based on the pictures and my description. It is a 2WD truck so you could go in a lot of different directions with the truck. I personally was going to leave the original patina paint and clear coat it. lower it a little and put some rims/tires on it and make it a daily driver. Interior and drive train would need very little investment so this truck would not take much to become a very unique. yet functional driver. Would also make an excellent tow vehicle for your classic/custom car or race car. Endless possibilities. I will do my best to get answers to any questions you may have. just email me the questions. I do reserve the right to end the auction at any time due to the fact that it may be listed in other media as well so it could sell locally at any time.
