Description for Ford Other 1973
1973 Ford Pinto Squire Wagon. 97k original miles. nbsp;2. 0 liter 4cyl engine. automatic transmission. manual disc brakes. all original paint and drivetrain. AM radio (still works great). just put new shocks in the rear and replaced the 2bl carburetor with a new fact rebuild. I recently added the 13" turbine wheels and brand new tires. still have the original rims and hubcaps too. I think the wheels did wonders for it compared to the little hubcap originals. The paint is all original. no major damage to speak of other than the dent in the hood and a small one by the passenger rear taillight. The car is very clean and pretty much rust free. except for some small spots behind the rear wheels. and I'm talking very small spots. All of the gauges. lights. nbsp;blinkers. radio. dome lights. key buzzer. nbsp;etc. they all work like they're supposed to. The interior is pretty much all original and in good shape. no cracks in the dash either! It runs and drives. like a Pinto. I bought it on a whim from a winter visitor in Arizona. it was just different enough and in good enough shape to say "why not?". So. I brought it home and made some improvements here and there - and all the while my wife calls it the ugliest thing that she's ever seen. I think it's awesome to cruise around town on small errands and to the corner store. Everywhere I've gone. (most) people love it! You just don't see many of them around anymore - maybe there's reason (as my wife would say)? In all. it's a pretty darn clean little car for what it is. The prior owner rebuilt the top end of the engine at about 93k miles. That included a complete valve job. resurfaced head. new cam and lifters. timing belt and water pump. He stopped there and drove it around for a little while. I replaced the carb. put a new cap. points. rotor and plug wires on it. also replaced the coil. It was stumbling under load and now that problem is gone. What has surfaced is a small knock from down below. like a rod bearing or something like that?? The oil pressure is strong and show 40-50lbs on the aftermarket gauge. nbsp;but the knock can be heard at start-up and on deceleration in certain instances. It's not constant. but comes and goes and is definitely present. so I mention it. I'm sure it will need to be addressed sometime in the near future - at which point the rings and all bearings could be replaced and that would complete the total rebuild. It's still very functional as it is. but I don't push it hard either for that very reason. Feel free to call me with any questions if you would like to discuss it. I can be reached at (602)-315-6796.
