On April 13th. 1964 more than 125 members of the media gathered at the Ford Pavilion at the New York Wolds Fair to preview cars that would be on the display. Then-Ford Motor Company Vice President delivered a speech that discussed the emerging market of young drivers born in the years after World War II. All of this was prelude to the unveiling of the all-new 1965 Ford Mustang. The car officially went on sale four days later. and was an instant classic. with more than 22. 00 sold on opening weekend and nearly 420. 00 units in the first year. Mustang established an entirely new market segment. the pony car. This particular car is a 1966 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback in factory correct Candy Apple Red. This car has undertaken a complete nut. and bolt rottiserie restoration. Its powered by a 289 4. 7 Litre V8 motor producing 210 break horse power at 4400 RPM and 300 ft. lb torque using a 4 barrel carburetor. The restoration was completed 7 years ago. and it has since clocked 480 miles on the odometer and counting. Runs. drives. and brakes great. Nice on streets. and highway. The engine is running a mild cam with headers on a 4-speed H pattern manual gearbox with a Ford 9-inch rear end. and hurst shifter. The 4 core radiator keeps the car running cool even in 90 degree weather in traffic. The sound is just right. Paint looks stunning!. Bullet straight without a single scratch or dent anywhere. You will hear "this is the nicest Fastback I have ever seen" more than once. GT Fog lights inside of the front grille. GT hood trim. Rally Wheels with near new tires. GT louvers. GT dual exhaust coming out of the rear back bumper. Interior is mint. The original radio is still inside the dash. and works perfect! Negatives : The trunk lock needs adjustment. It can be a pain to open. The AC does not blow cold. Have not tried to investigate. The glass is original and the passenger window has a few minimal scratches. as does the rear window.
