Description for Ford Thunderbird 1965
Thunderbirds remain a great way to get into the hobby without spending a lot of cash. Cars like this gorgeous 1965 Thunderbird Landau are fast comfortable stylish and easy to service making them fine choices that are welcome just about anywhere. With recent paint and chrome a gorgeous jet-age interior and 390 cubic inches of V8 muscle this is a heck of a lot of car for the money. This is actually a special 10th anniversary model of which Ford only built 4500 (this is number 3208) so it'll definitely stand out from the crowd. The color is called Emberglow Metallic and that's exactly what it looks like in person: a smoldering glow. Born in California and raised in sunny Nevada you know the sheetmetal is in excellent shape but given all that sun it's no surprise that it needed a repaint. So not too long ago it was refinished using modern paint that gives it a wonderful facelift and looks great. No it's not a trailer queen but there's no denying that this car has some serious eyeball appeal. And with that west coast pedigree the chrome including both bumpers the grille and many of the trim pieces that make these cars so wonderful to look at is in excellent condition. Shelby fans will recognize the wide sequential taillights and you can feel free to remove the fender skirts on this one and feel around; there's exactly zero rust in the usual locations. Heck even the padded landau roof appears to be original!Personal luxury reached its zenith in the mid-60s and with incredible competition in the form of the Buick Riviera and all-new Oldsmobile Toronado the Thunderbird offers first-class accommodations. The code 7 Parchment with Emberglow appointments (limited to this special Landau model) interior is in outstanding condition with comfortable buckets flanking a stylish center console and enough room in back for three. The swing-away steering wheel is a neat option and this car also includes things like power windows and factory A/C to reinforce its luxury mission. The gauges are clearly inspired by aircraft design with a wide speedometer with big numbers and a row of individual auxiliary gauges underneath. The factory AM/FM radio is still fully operational and the Grant GT wood-rimmed steering wheel is a welcoming addition. The trunk is downright massive with a fully upholstered look that's as slick as the rest of the car and there's a full-sized spare up on its own shelf. The only engine in 1965 was a 4-barrel 390 and it moves the 'Bird effortlessly with a nice muscle car rumble. Rebuilt two years ago the big V8 and surrounding engine bay is in good order and looks mostly original with factory black and gold paint on the engine itself and correct decals on the air cleaner. Power steering and power front disc brakes were standard equipment as well and with the 3-speed automatic this car is a pleasure to drive anywhere whether it's to work each day or on a cross-country trip. With 3.00 gears out back it's pleasant on the highway and you'll never get tired of the pleasant V8 burble from the twin glasspack-style mufflers. Original wheels with shiny color-matched wheelcovers give it an authentic look and wear 215/75/15 whitewall radials. This clean Thunderbird offers a lot of car for not a lot of money this car is a great opportunity to get on the A-list for a bargain price.
