1968 1/2 Fastback Mustang 428 Cobra Jet R-Code 4 Speed 4:30 car

Description for Ford Mustang 1968

This auction is for an original 1968 1/2 R-Code 428 Cobra Jet car that came factory with a high ratio 4:30 axle setup. This is a complete rust free body except for some very minor bubbles in the paint shown in the pics. No Engine or Transmission it has a 9" rear end but the nodular case and 31 spline axleshave been removed and now has 28 spline open unit in it. The car is supposed to be acapulco blue but was painted indian fire red in the 80's. They also added leuvered tail light panel. The Ram air scoop and hood is gone car currently has a signal light hood. Upon purchasing the car we discovered that the left front inner fender had been replaced badly with used parts as had part of the radiator support. We purchasedNOS ford inner fender and radiator support and cleanly removed oldinner fender but have not yet replaced it. Both pieces are shown in pics and are part of this auction. Passenger side inner fender is original with factory vin stamping. Car still has original break booster front disc brakes big block springs and original swaybar. The grille and fog lights are in very good shape. We have no bumpers for the car. The chrome and glass is in excellent shape. We do not believe the windshield is original but the rest of the glass appears to be. The body is straight and the lines on the car are very good. Car has nice chrome gt wheels and centers beauty rings are good but not perfect. Tires are new old school bias belted 4 ply. The interior is in very good shape. Front seat covers and instrument bezels are new. Factory tach and speedometer are original and worked fine when the car was running. Carpet is original and shows a little wear. The car had an overhead console at one time but it has been removed. Headliner will need replaced if buyer doesnt install an overhead console. However headliner is in good shape other than cutouts for overhead console (map light). The rest of interior panels are in great shape with the exception of 1 piece of corner molding that is missing. Rear seat cover are in good shape. Floor pans quarter panels trunk floors torque boxes and frame rails are excellent and original. Naturally car has staggered shocks and wrap around shock towers (shown in pics). The whole car has been undercoated very well I have checked this car out from front to back and it was not done to hide anything. We have included many pictures of the underneath of this car to help you see these things. This is a very nice solid restorable R-Code body. I am only selling it because I do not have time to restore it properly the way it needs to be done. It is listed in the 428 registry under my name (Roy Grubb). When I bought the car it had a small block 4 speed in it and everything on the car worked excellent. That engine and transmission was taken out and used for another project that it was correct for as it was not for this car. We have owned and restored these cars for 30+ years and could possibly help buyer locate some of the crucial parts needed to restore this car and have already located some of it just had not purchased it yet.
