Mustang LX 5.0

Clean and Original

VIN 1FABP41E6JF189845

There’s an old saying in the collector car world: Any vehicle can be restored given enough time and money but it can only be factory-original once! This 5.0 was sold new here in the Seattle and has remained the past three decades with careful folks that kept and maintained the car pretty much the way it drove off the Ford dealers lot back in the early spring of 1988. I’ve personally always preferred the less "cluttered" look of these Fox-body LX hatchbacks over the flashy GT model and appreciate that they sold in smaller numbers back then making them hard to find now. This car came to us directly from a Tacoma-area private owner/collector. The factory original paint is still great and you’ve gotta love the look of the vintage turbine alloys on this car – a very cool vibe! What you see in my photos is not the result of a detail this car arrived in this superior original condition.

If you have questions or would like to discuss a sale before the end of the Ebay listing feel free to call text or email me. My name is Mark Thompson and my direct number is 206/914-1173.

Here’s how the VIN Code and door Data Plate break down:

1FA = Ford Motor company USA Built

B = Active Seatbelts

P41 = Hatchback LX

E = 5.0L (301 CID) 225 HP High Output V8

6 = Check Digit

J = 1988 Model Year

F = Dearborn Michigan Assembly Plant

This was the 189845 Ford vehicle built that year.

From the door data plate the color is specified as Black (M) The original destination DSO is 74 (Seattle) the rear axle (M) has 2.73 gears with Traction Lock the transmission is an AOD and C specifies a glass sunroof

CONDITION:

The photos really do tell the Mustang’s story. I’m always happy when we come across these well-preserved original vehicles and are then able to offer them here to you! It still has the same paint it wore the day it drove off the Dearborn assembly line (yes it still holds quite a shine too). I’m not a body or paint guy but I don’t find evidence of any exterior work having been done. Rust isn’t an issue because of the mild climate here in western Washington State; our winter roads are never salted. First sign of a snow flake; everyone panics and just stays home! I’d be very surprised if this hatchback has seen many winter roads during its life. There’s NO discernable rust in the body or frame that we’ve found. Feel free to climb over under and around this rig - I absolutely know you’ll come up smiling! Both headlights the front marker and turn signal assemblies are all clear and bright as new. Absolutely no fogged over headlightsas you’ll find on most of this vintage.

I feel the Mustang is in great mechanical condition. Even after sitting in our warehouse for a few days it starts right up at the first few cranks - you just can't beat the bulletproof 5.0 Liter High Output V8's that all GT's and a few LX models came with that year. The strong AOD automatic transmission shifts as intended sending power to the equally strong Traction-Lok differential (still with stock 2.73 gears). After driving the car for several days last week I can reportgreat freeway acceleration and smooth cruising through all the gears to 70 MPH just as expected and that the brakes feel fine - no pulling to one side or fading.

Please take another good look at the interior photos. Settle into the driver’s seat and you’ll quickly recognize that just about everything is factory original right down to the door pull handles. The carpets are covered with color-matched carpet floormats and are solid though a bit stained on the passenger side. Both front buckets are as the pics show with only a small hole on the driver’s seat (there is absolutely NO smoking odor in this car). The rear bench is like-new. All the dash gauges are as clear and bright as the day this car left the assembly line. The former owner replaced the factory radio years ago and it’s time to upgrade to a modern player. Don't know why but my door key doesn't work on the rear hatch.

If you’re in the market for an original clean great driving sunroof car please give this LX 5.0 your kind attention. There aren’t many left out there in this condition AND it’s posted with a low reserve! As a decade-long Ebay seller with hundreds of satisfied online buyers I want you to bid with confidence knowing that this car looks runs and drives as it should and that it is being properly represented to you.

I’m always very happy to work with any shipper you choose but you’re also welcome to do what many of my previous buyers from as far away as Alaska Arizona the Midwest Canada Florida New York and even the Mexican Baja have done – fly in here to Seattle (I’ll pick you up at Sea-Tac International just a few miles away) and then start a late spring road trip home!

Please check the photos over closely and call me with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! Because of the amount of money involved with a vehicle purchase we reserve the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback. I also ask that potential bidders with a feedback rating of ten or fewer transactions on Ebay contact me before placing a bid. Finally we reserve the right to end the auction early if the Mercedes is no longer for sale or an acceptable offer has been agreed to before the end of the auction period. Please feel free to contact me directly thru Ebay’s system or as outlined above call or text me at 206/914-1173 anytime. My name is MARK THOMPSON.

A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:

A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction’s conclusion. The balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. I can accept PAYPAL but if you plan to pay any more than the deposit through them I’ll first need to invoice you and ask that you cover the 3.5% fee charged. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.

If you decide to have theMustang transported home there are scores of companies to choose from. I ship vehicles regularly and suggest that you get a transport bid from Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS). Call my designated rep Brad Simon at (908)290-1575 and give him my affiliate number (2362642) so he can pull up all our information for a station-to-station or even door-to-door quote.

As an alternative you might also get bids from the U-Ship.com website. You’ll be able to choose a transport broker from multiple offers. The zip code for pick-up would be 98002 (Auburn Washington). The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER.

TheMustang can be stored free of charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage is $20 per day. Though I have NO doubts about the vehicle’s road-worthiness or ability to easily manage a long-distance road trip it is being sold “as-is where-is”. All information described above is based on the observed condition when thelisting was placed. I've done my best to describe the car as honestly as possible and encourage bidders to contact me with questions.
