Description for GMC Other 1938
Great winter project. A super rare 1938 GMC T23!!! I have been told this is one of two still running and driving. Nice and straight original sheet metal. Virtuallyno rust except bottom of drivers door. This was a local Colorado truck that was parked on a neighbors ranch since the early 1950's. I have put lots of time and money into this truck but havejust lost interest and want the space in my barn back. It has the original 257 six cylinder engine which runs great. The 4 speed transmission shifts good through all of the gears. I had theclutch rebuilt and at that time checked the bearings and seals in the transmission. The carburetor and fuel pump are rebuilt. I had a brass radiator custom made to the original configuration so it fits correctly and is mounted as the original was. The gauges are rebuilt. There is only enough wiring to start and drive the truck. The generator is wired to the voltage regulator and does seem to charge. There are no lights currently working or wired. All of the glass has been replaced, he window regulators were removed cleaned and greased so work well. Both sides of the windshield swing out, ut there is some rust on the bottom of the glass frames, nd at the top where the frame meets the cab. The headlight shells were repainte, NOS lenses installed and the reflectors re-silvered.The master cylinder, heel cylinders, ubber brake lines have all been replaced. The brake shoes looked virtually new when the drums were pulled off. The wheel bearings were repacked and new seals installed. All six of the wheels have been stripped and powder coated. The tires are in good condition but have some cracking as they came off of a sub 10k mile 1960's fire truck. I sanded most of the exterior with 100 grit paper and sprayed it with gloss clear until I decided what to do with i, ut have really grown to like the look. Plus you can see exactly what you are buying ! I have the seat base being upholstered now and hope to have it back in a week or so. The seat back was just finished. I'm sure there is lots more I have forgotten and also lots more that still needs to be done.
The truck runs drives and stops but still need LOTS of work depending on the level you want to take it to. There is no bed, nly enough wiring to make it run, o weather stripping. It is a running driving project. It does have a clear Colorado title.
