The following is the life of the truck in Jerry's words:
I purchased this truck at a farm auction in Colorado in Nov 2010. I believe it was purchased new by the farmer that I bought it from. I brought it back to Kansas City and began the restoration in the spring of 2011.The truck had the original V-6, 05 cu inch in it when I purchased it. Rather than replacing it with a V-8, elected to keep the drive train original. I took the engine and transmission to a professional to have both rebuilt.I decided to go back with the original factory green color and to use the factory white color available in 62 to give it a better look. The truck was completely taken apart to perform a frame-off restoration. There was very little rust. The rust that was there was cut out and replaced with sheet metal The frame was completely cleaned and chassis paint applied. The body was primed with epoxy primer. All parts that were not up to like new expectations were replaced with parts from Classic Parts and LMC Truck. As time went by I realized the rarity of GMC trucks being restored and took great pride in my workmanship. The white paint was applied one day, he green the next. Finally a quality coat of clear coat. It turned out very well. I finished the build with a custom upholstered seat and Rally wheels with new tires and trim rings.Completed in the summer of 2014. I have trailered the pickup when going to shows to keep the miles and wear to a minimum. I am very proud of this quality build.
I encourage you to send your professional inspection company, r better yet come see it yourself...you'll be very impressed!
