Description for GMC Truck 1955
This classic is a 1955 GMC 350 Fire Truck Tanker Apparatus. This truck has 39,960 miles and functions flawlessly. The rear brakes have been rebuilt and are in perfect working condition. The chrome on the front bumper is in immaculate condition for the age of this truck. Pictures cannot do it any justice.
Basic Facts
The engine is a 4.7 Pontiac (original for this era). The transmission is a 4-speed Hydromatic. It has a 2 speed (Hi-Low) gear drive case. The rear end is an Eaton Hypoid 150. The engine runs great and the truck is driveable condition.
The lights and siren function and give off that old style wail.
The apparatus portion of the truck was build byAlexis Fire Equipment Co.out of Alexis, Illinois.
The paint has a great patina which is beginning to show the original light blue color from wear (not rust) of the red paint. As indicated in the pictures you can still see some of the original detail decorative gold scrolling. This appears to be hand painted. There is very little rust on the cab of the vehicle. There is however normal rust and wear in the tanker area due from the service duties this vehicle had likely incurred.
