Description for GMC Jimmy 1977

1977 GMC Jimmy 4x4 for Sale
1977 GMC Jimmy 4x4 1-Family Owned Since New ......please be patient while the many photos load.....

We have a very cool, 1-family owned 1977 GMC Jimmy 4x4 Convertible for sale. This car was purchased new by the current owner's grandfather and passed onto him in around 1998. It originated in Arkansas, soon thereafter moved to New Mexico and has now been a California truck for the last 18 years.

Current miles are 105,943. The truck is very original with just one repaint in it's original, factory color, Sunset Orange. The chrome and trim still look great and the glass is in good shape all around. The body is very straight with no rust or rot though the truck was never undercoated so there is some light non-evasive surface rust underneath that could easily be sanded off.

The interior is remarkably well preserved and very comfortable with all original seating, carpet, paneling, bucket seats w/ center console and a very nice dash. The truck is very well optioned:

  • Factory A/C
  • 400ci V8 Engine
  • Stock Heads
  • -Carburetor
  • -Electric choke
  • -600 CFM
  • THM700 R4 4-Speed Automatic Transmission
  • -Casting date: 8/31/1976
  • Front and Rear Leaf Spring Suspension
  • Spring Packs
  • 12-Bolt Rear End
  • -Ratio: 3.08:1
  • -Open differential
  • Front axle:
  • -Ratio: 3.06:1
  • Front Lockout Hubs
  • Front Power Disc Brakes
  • Rear Power Drum Brakes
  • Power Steering
  • Newer Battery
  • Jimmy's were made with a 350 and a 454. This is a rare variation with a factory installed 400ci V8 as indicated by the third vin charactor "R". It starts; runs and drives beautifully with plenty of power, tight suspension and steering. A brand new exhaust system was just installed and it sounds excellent. The motor is quiet and smooth. The shifting via the THM700/R4 is smooth and precise and braking and suspension feel good. Currently the A/C blows but appears to need a charge and the clock is inoperable.

As the supply of stock, original Blazers and Jimmy's are quickly depleting, this is a rare opportunity to find a nice, unmodified, unmolested example that's been in one family from it's beginnings. Regardless of our commitment to describe vehicles in as much detail as possible there will be imperfections. Us failing to mention for example an item such as a paint imperfection, an inoperable switch etc, does not constitute refusal of a car by the buyer. Vehicles are complex machines with thousands of parts. Classic & special interest vehicles are broad in their differences and uniqueness. Even though we attempt to be as clear and concise in our descriptions as possible, some of these are cars that we buy and consign. They are not our own personal cars and we do not always know what to specifically look for. It may have issues that are inherent to a vehicle of its type and/or age. In short, we encourage you to ask questions. We also encourage inspections to avoid any misunderstandings. This vehicle is being sold "as-is", with no warranty, expressed or implied. But please consider that these old cars, even when in great operational order are nothing like your modern car! Please do not expect even a restored several decades old car to perform with the same preciseness or reliability as a late model car. If you're new to the hobby please feel free to contact me. I have driven classic cars continuously for over 30 years and am happy to share the joys as well as the realities involved in owning these special old cars.
