Here we have a clean ONE OWNER 1988 GMC Suburban 1500. With only 87,000 original miles, this vehicle has been meticulously maintained and garage kept since it's purchase. The truck is two-tone light blue metallic with gray lower. It features aftermarket running boards, also installed from the dealer. 3.73 gearing with limited slip rear differential. This truck was special ordered to occasionally tow a boat a short distance, and was used as a daily driver otherwise until about 1993. Since then it has only been used occasionally. All of the service records and parts receipts up until about 2000 are included.

Some of the notable services and repairs include the following :

Transmission torque converter seal replaced

Fuel pump replaced

Fuel gauge replaced

Front brakes replaced (at least once)

Muffler and rear sections of exhaust replaced (2x)

Rear differential fluid changed on multiple occasions

Transmission fluid replaced on multiple occasions.

"Diverted valve" replaced

Radiator and hoses replaced

This vehicle WAS part of GM's paint recall campaign back in the 90s and was stripped by the dealer and repainted the original color, as the factory paint was too thin and battered by the sun's UV rays. They did a good job with the respray, but since then there have been small blemishes on the vehicle, and a couple spots of surface rust. All of them have been pictured. The frame and portions of the undercarriage were given rust preventative coating by the dealer when new and it is still present on sections of the frame, and in the wheel tubs, which have remained surprisingly rust free. There is no major rust on the frame itself, it is very solid. The worst two areas are behind the rear passenger wheel on the quarter, and up beside the rear glass on the drivers side quarter. Both of these have been pictured. One headlight has a non-functioning low beam. The lower header panel behind the bumper is rusty but would be an easy fix if you wanted it to be closer to perfect.

Mechanically this truck is in great shape. Has 4 evenly worn original sized tires on steel wheels, with about 9-10/32" remaining on all of the tires. Painted steel wheels with the GMC pie pan hub caps. One of the hub locks seized at some point and has been replaced with a Warn unit. The balljoints, axle u joints, drive shaft u joints, and tie rod ends are all tight, and where applicable have been greased regularly. A new battery was installed in 2016 and the truck starts right up just like it should. The alternator charges the battery right up and the truck runs with about 50 psi of oil pressure, and stays at about 190-200 degrees even in the hottest of summer weather. The axle fluid has been replaced regularly, along with the transmission oil, which even now is a nice cherry red. Trans shifts smoothly into all the gears and runs down the road straight and quietly. The brakes work great, and the pedal feels nice and firm, with positive feedback as you increase pressure. The power steering works fine too.

This vehicle wasn't originally equipped with air conditioning, so the heat works the way it should, and the fan works on all speeds. Shifts into an out of 4wd smoothly with no issues or strange noises.

The interior of the truck is in good shape, with a few issues that could be easily corrected. All of the glass is in good shape, and all of the crank windows work fine, including the rear. The floor has the original rubber mat coating, which is clean and not torn. The pins and bushings in the drivers door were just replaced and the checks all work correctly and hold the doors where they're supposed to be. There is one crack in the dash pad right in the middle of the steering wheel. All of the original gauges work and the speedometer is nice and smooth with no skipping or jumping. Honestly come of the dust was wiped out but the car hasn't even been vacuumed or detailed since it was in regular use. All of the seats recline and lock like they're supposed to and with the rear seat removed and the middle folded the bed area is simply huge. All of the seat belts work fine and none of them are moldy or ripped up. The headliner was sagging in spots and was reglued recently. It looks pretty good in the grand scheme of things, but has a couple creases near the interior lights. No tears or rips. The original AM/FM radio works well and all the original interior speakers work and don't sound blown or have any crackles. There is a small rust hole on the inside of the tailgate which is pictured. The original spare is included, and I don't think it's ever touched the ground.

This car is being listed BY ME for a client located near Cleveland OH. The client wishes to limit his availability to bidders, but I do not. If you are local and wish to see the car in person, we can set up an appointment and work around the seller's schedule, at the discretion of my client. I have driven this car and was the one who pictured it and I'm very confident in its condition. I can answer any and all technical questions and in extreme cases can get in touch with the seller for more specific information. This is a rare opportunity to own a great condition one owner classic with less than 100k miles. It's not perfect but it's a very honest old GMC and a beautiful truck that could be kept as is or lifted with different wheels and tires to be a mean looking rig.

The truck is for "local pickup" but I'm a realistic fashion, if you would like to ship it, get in touch with me and we will work with the high bidder or buyer to make the deal work. It's a clean title car that will be transferred only upon full payment via cleared cashiers check or cash in hand. A $500 non refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction close or the car will be sold to the second bidder or relisted in extreme cases.

Since the car is reliable and drivable, I would be willing to drive the car to you for the client depending on location, if the payment is secured in advance and are okay with the increase in mileage on the odometer.

Thanks again for looking and please bid on this great old GM product! Any questions feel free to ask. Look at my extensive feedback and seller reputation and bid with confidence!
