Description for GMC 102-22 1953

This is a No Reserve auction for my 1953 GMC, Model 102-22 three-window pickup. If you are the high bidder at the end of the auction, you and I have a contract to complete the sale. I'll hold up my end.

History:

I am the third owner of this truck and I've owned it for seven years. The original owner was a farmer in Wisconsin, then his nephew who did a nice but not archival restoration/update in the mid-1970's) and now me. The mileage is 54,868 and it is original. The last owner sold it to me because he couldn't work the clutch anymore. I'm selling it because I don't have room for it and don't drive it enough. (I've put 2,298 miles on it in seven years.)

Engine & Transmission:

Engine is original 228 c.i. with a three-speed manual transmission (also original to the truck.) Both the engine and transmission work as they should and it starts right up even on the coldest Iowa winter days. It seeps a little oil on the garage floor but nothing unusual for a 65 year old vehicle that is driven. The radiator was flushed and new antifreeze put in 1000 miles ago. Regular oil, filter, lubrications were performed and I have records of all of that.

Electrical:

It has the factory 6-volt system with unaltered wiring. I keep the battery on a Battery Tender in a closed garage. All lights, gauges, heater/defroster, electrical components and wiring are factory original and all work properly.

Tires/Brakes/Suspension:

It has four Firestone LT215/85R-16 radial tires on it with just a touch over 1000 miles on them. New valve stems and balanced. They give a smooth ride. The previous owner redid the front suspension components and the back brakes about 3000 miles ago and I had the fronts replaced 800 miles ago.

The body and bed:

If you are looking for a "trailer queen" or some museum piece this probably isn't the truck for you. I drive it. I haul stuff in it. I enjoy it. I take good care of it but I don't worry about it staying pristine. There is some rust where the front fenders meet the inner firewall. It doesn't show, it isn't structural so I've never let it bother me. The cab corner on the driver side has a small hole down low. Doesn't show and it isn't getting any worst so I live with it. There is a very tiny crack on passenger window; barely shows. The bed is the original one it had from the factory; Southern Yellow Pine painted matt-black from the factory. It shows use but is solid. The Huron Green paint was faithfully replaced by the nephew during the restoration as well as the factory ivory interior paint.

Extras:

It comes with the original owner's manual and an original shop manual for this truck. There are also many small spare parts/gaskets, etc. that the previous owner gave me. Also included is a new master cylinder which I bought when I had the front brakes done but it wasn't needed at that time. The hula girl on the dash goes with the truck.

Legal:

I have clear title in my name and it will transfer in all 50 states. There are no liens against the truck; I own it outright. It's mine. I make no warranties or guarantees with the truck. I've told you all I know and I'll answer any question you have as honestly and completely as I can. I have receipts and records of everything I've done in the last seven years and records from the previous owner which I will provide to you. It's a 65 year old motor vehicle. Just like your family car; things can happen.

Payment & Pick-Up:

Only one form of payment is acceptable. A Cashier's Check drawn on a major United States bank (Wells Fargo, US Bank, etc.) for the full amount of the purchase is expected within five working days of the end of the auction.

Ignore the PayPal deposit required information. eBay's software matrix is messed up and requires you to put something in there or they won't list the auction.

Shipment or pick-up is the responsibility of the buyer. I will work with any shipper you contract with or I will help you load it if you come yourself. If you live close, this truck will do 45-50 mph all day long and you can drive it home. Either way, I expect it to be gone in 10 days from the end of the auction.

Summary:

Look at my feedback. I treat my buyers right and expect the same in return. This is a good truck that I've really enjoyed owning and driving for the last seven years. Look at the pictures and ask questions about anything you are unsure of or need more information for.
