It was test driven by potential truck buyers all year long and finally sold in January of 1967 when it was replaced by a new demonstrator. It was ordered with all of the following working factory-installed options:

Body came painted Ivory with stark White contrasting accent paint inside the Chrome window mouldings. Body condition
THE GOOD: doors, hood, driver front fender and tailgate / liftgate are all solid with no bondo or rust. Solid floors and inner / outer rockers.
Inner and outer roof and drip rail are excellent and rust free. Original ceiling tiles are all in tact inside (very rare). Original radio still in it so no radio hole butchery. Overall a relatively straight solid old Suburban with a great day to day driver grade appearance.
THE BAD: has rust in the rear driver cab support and the pass side rear support is rusted out completely. Both need to be replaced if you are not someone who can just crank and drive this truck around unrestored like I do. Each of the rear quarters behind the wheels have the usual rust out Suburban’s are known for, so that was addressed in the 70’s repaint and repaired with body filler. Looks pretty presentable, but not repaired to today’s standards so unless you are like me and willing to drive it as a daily and use it camping etc you’ll want to rework the rear quarters when you work the body for paint. Pass front fender looks fine for driving around like I do, but the front is packed with bondo and it needs to be replaced. Both inner fenders have sheet metal matches pop-riveted on the front edge to cover rusted spots as typical on 60-66 truck inner fenders. Powerglide trans went out at some point and a 4 speed shifter hole was crudely cut in the trans hump, but they never successfully completed the swap to 4 speed, so that man made hole is covered by some thick foam rubber I cut and laid over it under the original automatic floor mat. Perfect as is for driving as you’d never know the hole was under the mat, but again - if you are someone who is compelled to restore everything you buy, then you will want to get a trans hump patch panel from a donor cab and fix this hole.
I have many pictures of the rust areas and 1970’s repaired areas so if you become a serious buyer contact me for more information. 256 486 1988 TEXT or call
MECHANICAL COND:
Truck runs and operates great and I drive it all kinds of distances dependably - would drive it to California and not think anything of it. Rear end makes no noise and is a factory Dana 44 w/ 3:54 gears - perfect for the highway. I paid mechanics to grease all fittings, change all fluids, re-do brakes and go through everything mechanically about 3 yrs ago and she’s in great shape, but does leak oil from what may be multiple places - engine is typically dirty and greasy so I don’t really know where any leaks are coming from, but its not too bad - leaves a few 50 cent sized . I have not re-gasketed the engine yet but that was my next project this Spring. Engine does not smoke but may a little on start up - haven’t noticed if so.
SHIPPING - I have a local guy who goes all over the U.S. about as cheap as it can be done by anyone - send me your zip and City / State for a quote
