Description for GMC 1500 1987
Take a good hard look at this beautifully restored and modified 1987 GMC R1500 Sierra Classic stepside pickup. Let’s start with the jaw dropping exterior. The first thing you will probably notice is the incredibly deep and glossy Dark Blue Metallic paint that gives this truck a classy and custom look. The chrome Ridler wheels are 18†in the front and 20†in the rear, which really accents the aggressive stance this truck has. They are wrapped in Nitto 420S... tires in 255/50R18 and 285/50R20. That stance is provided by Classic Performance Parts tubular upper and lower control arms, drop spindles and lowered coil springs. It also has Belltech drop shocks on all four corners that have been professionally c-notched with an axle flip. This allows the tires to tuck slightly for that more modern restomod look everyone is after. The front end has an LMC front bumper conversion with integrated parking lights and turn signals. The front end is also cleaned up with a billet grill that ties it all together. One-piece windows have been installed to eliminate the vent windows and clean up the profile of the truck. The interior is incredible and with a custom split bench seat from TMI with suede inserts, black grommets and blue stitching to match the fully programmable Dakota Digital gauges. The seat is mounted with a TMI bracket system. New matching door panels from TMI, a custom headliner and new carpet with sound deadening material finish off the interior. Let’s dive into the drivetrain of this pickup. A GM Performance Ramjet EFI 350 CID V8 engine has been massaged into the engine compartment. The engine is rated at 350 horsepower and 400 lb ft. of torque to get this truck moving. That power is routed to a 700R4 automatic transmission and then out back to a 10-bolt rear end. Engine upgrades include an electric fan with adjustable controls, a Spectre cold air intake and Hooker Headers running to true dual exhaust with chrome tips. This truck is cruiser friendly with 4-wheel power disc brakes from SSBC, power steering with a Classic Performance Parts Series 500 close ratio steering box, and all new front-end parts. The bed has also been restored with an American Classic Trucks Oak wood bed with stainless polished bed strips, stainless polished angle strips and stainless polished hardware. We have a binder with all the receipts and detailed documentation covering the history of this truck since new, including the original bill of sale from Desert GMC in Las Vegas. It has a total of 3-owners since new and the restoration was completed in March of 2017. You couldn’t build this truck for the asking price, and we can prove it with receipts totaling over $35,000 not including the truck itself.
