Description for GMC 150 1949
For your consideration please review all photos ( more available upon request ) of this great example of a rust free original 1948 GMC pickup. Model F150 3/4 ton. Prior to my ownership, this vehicle has spent its entire life in Northern California, and was restored by the long time previous owner of over 20 years. I purchased this vehicle in May of 2012 in California and had it shipped to my home where I have carefully maintained and kept it garage stored since I bought it.The previous owner did a body off, frame up restoration of this vehicle. While it is an amateur restoration, it is restored to its original specs, and the work was very meticulously done. All systems were gone through, repaired or replaced, and are fully operational right down to the vacuum operated windshield wipers. The paint job is amateur and looks great from 10 ft away, and I would consider a professional refinish to the original Brewster Green if one were to show this vehicle. I have enjoyed driving it as is, but the downsizing of my collector cars and retirement tells me that it is time for a new owner. This vehicle was never altered from its original status, although the engine is not the original 228 cu in. The engine is a unaltered 248 cu in GMC from a later model ( 1954? ) and the odometer reading of 79,771 is believed to be accurate for this engine. Since my ownership, I had the engine rear main seal replaced, new clutch, new master cylinder, brakes, and valves adjusted. Oil changed. Engine runs perfect. I do not have the original oil bath air filter, aftermarket air filter is installed. What I know of the existing options and equipment for this vehicle are as follows:
*6 volt electrical system, all lights, turn signals, gauges, odometer, heater, fan, wipers, horn, are fully operational. Gauges appear to be remanufactured and steering wheel is OEM replacement. Radio is new aftermarket GMC reproduction, and working.
* 4 speed manual transmission, floor shift.
*Original 2 piece steel wheels and new 7 ply tires.
* In 1949 these trucks were delivered to dealers without rear bumpers. The rear bumper on this vehicle was installed by the original selling dealer in 1949. I am told it was sold to a construction company in Northern California and have some of the original California registration receipts from 1952, and 1953.
* New pine wood in bed, as original spec.
* All glass is good, no cracks, and windows all operate smoothly. Rubber seals replaced around windshield.
* Interior door panels, seat covers, and headliner are new OEM replacements, and look great.
* Vehicle is totally rust free. Undercarriage pictures are available and represent an accurate representation of the rust free undercarriage.
I will be happy to answer all questions, and happy to allow inspections during the auction. I have attempted to give an accurate description of this vehicle. You are bidding on a very fine example of a genuine, unaltered 1949 GMC pick up that can be enjoyed as is, or can become a show vehicle with minimal expense. I have a modest reserve price established that is very fair considering its outstanding condition. No disappointments.
I am selling only to reduce my car collection and downsizing due to my retirement and limited storage space.
