Description for Honda Prelude 1989
For sale is a 1989 Honda Prelude si. It has 76,000 original miles on it. I bought it in March of this year with 75,000 miles on it. The engine is the B20A5 with a D2J3 five speed manual transmission. I have not driven it much due to the work I've been doing on it. It needs tie rods, nd second gear grinds a little going into gear above 2000 rpm. I tried changing the trans fluid and put in a braided steel clutch line and new clutch master cylinder, ut it still does it, hough not as bad. The car is very solid, ery little rust. The body is in good shape, lthough the paint has plenty of scratches, hips, nd some small dents here and there. Cosmetically, t definitely isn't perfect, ut it's a solid platform to build on, rive and enjoy. It has never been repainted. I was in the middle of a performance build, ut my wife said enough toys, ither the car goes or she goes. So, ere it is for sale. Everything has been done with meticulous attention to detail, s I planned on keeping this. It hasn't been beat on, t was adult owned and well maintained. It is a very fun little car to drive. This is what I've done so far.For weight reduction, removed all hard rubber matting from floors and trunk, leaned and painted with black rustoleum, lat black in trunk, loss black on rear seat pan, lat black under the carpet. Removed heavy, ulky seatbelt setup from the doors and back seat and replaced with NRG four point harnesses. Replaced shift boot and knob with an Acura Integra OEM leather boot and GReddy shift knob. Installed a Kenwood Excelon head unit with ipod and Bluetooth connectivity. Wiring harness was soldered, id not use crimp connectors. Rear power antenna was broken, nd since it was heavy and ugly, decided to plug the hole and streamline it with a Password JDM rear wiper delete plug from an Integra. Honda put a factory rear window antenna in these cars, nd the head unit is plugged into that. Reception is excellent, etter than before. Door speakers are 3 way Sony, ear deck speakers are Infinity Kappa two way with directional tweeters. All speakers are mounted with foam baffles from Crutchfield. Stereo sounds great, rystal clear and loud. Replaced worn door hinges with brand new OEM Honda hinges on both sides.
I remove A/C and all components, xcept for evaporator in dash. Replaced alternator belt with new Dayco A/C delete belt. Flushed power steering with Amsoil fluid, emoved all power steering components and looped the lines, eaving fluid in the rack, teers great. The engine only has to turn the alternator, reeing up power. Relocate battery to trunk with Taylor battery relocation kit from Summit Racing. Brand new Interstate battery. Acura Integra air intake modified to fit where battery was. This offers much better airflow than the stock setup, hich if you know this generation of Preludes, s very cluttered and inefficient. Plus, his helps take weight off the front end, etting you closer to 50/50 front to rear weight distribution for better handling. Changed motor oil, ilter, nd transmission fluid with full synthetic Amsoil lubricants. Billet aluminum oil cap. Just changed fuel filter, istributor cap, otor, lugs and wires. Plugs are NGK Iridium with NGK wires. Wheels are lightweight 15 inch Konig Helium in bronze with Nitto NeoGen 205/50/15 tires, ess than 500 miles on them. I have receipts for everything done to the car.Since doing these few mods, here is quite a difference in the car since it was stock. I also have a Haynes shop manual that goes with the car. Future plans were to install a carbon fiber hood to save more weight, Cusco strut bars, -sport coilovers, pec clutch and flywheel, nd braided brake lines and new pads, ut never made it that far. I have the stock seatbelts, teel wheels, nd back seat to go with thecar as well. I have not set a reserve price, ut I do have the car listed for sale locally, o I reserve the right to end the auction early. The winning bidder will need to make a non-refundable $250 deposit through PayPal as soon as the auction ends. The rest will be due in cash at the time you come to pick the car up. Thank you.
