Description for Honda Civic 1991

Offered for sale is a survivor Civic Wagon that is a true “California car”. It was purchased and driven in Southern California its entire life.

It is in terrific, original condition and is equipped with several desirable Genuine Honda, dealer-installed accessories. These wagons are rare and much sought after by enthusiasts.

First and foremost – I always try to be upfront when selling cars on eBay. I have included many, many detailed photos of the car which I strongly encourage you to view them – please ask all questions before the auction ends.

The car photographs very nicely… Please understand that the paint on this car is from 1991and is weathered and faded. I had it detailed and it cleaned up well – however, I don’t want any disappointments. There are various scratches, dents and dings on the body but, there is no evidence of repaint/body repair or rust. If you know these cars, you know that is indeed rare!

All that said, this is a terrific car! The fuel-injected 1.6-liter engine makes it feel like you’re driving a CRX Si – the RT4WD manual transmission has a “SL” super-lower gear that helps when your accelerating on snow, sand, mud or steep hills.

I’ve never driven the car in the snow but I understand the Real-Time 4WD system is quite capable. There’s a sticker that was placed in the engine bay when the timing belt was replaced at 91,588 miles. The car starts, runs and drives well. The shifter has a nice, sporty snick, snick feel to it. The clutch is fine for now but will likely need to be replaced at some point. A new Exedy clutch kit is included with the car for when the time comes.

I have replaced the rear shocks but the fronts are ready to be replaced too. A pair of new front struts and mounting kits are included with the car as well as a pair of rear trailing arm bushings – I have not had time to have them installed.

The muffler sounds good and looks original. The tailpipes are rusted (pictured) so the muffler will have to be repaired or replaced at some point. A company namedBosal offers what I believe to be suitable muffler since Honda no longer offers one.

The tires on the car need to be replaced. They are old, hard and have flat spots. At speed there is vibration in the steering wheel because of them. I have been driving the car around town but they should be replaced.

The interior is in great shape! There are signs of use – especially in the cargo area but for 107,000+ miles, I think you’d agree it is pretty nice. The Monroney label from the car is stamped “CVA” which I believe means “Company Vehicle Administration“. Judging from the accessories installed, this could have been a company or employee car for an American Honda associate. The dealer-installed accessories include: air conditioning (which blows cold), fog lights, roof rack, rear speaker pods and carpeted floor mats (front only).

Air conditioner and heater, wipers – front and rear, lights, signals, clock, automatic “passive” front shoulder belts and stereo all work. The horn does not work. The Honda 2000 stereo was replaced with an aftermarket system. The installed stereo works fine. The original Honda 2000 head unit is included although I don’t know if it works. I accessed Honda’s database and got the security code. I replaced the original speakers that had aged and sounded poor. The dash has no cracks but there is a bit of discoloring on the top that can be seen in photos. I have replaced the tailgate struts and the front inboard and outboard CV joint boots. A new Genuine Honda battery was installed November 1, 2016.

The car would be an ideal car to preserve or to “individualize”. Unmolested, stock versions are getting harder to find. Rust-free and low mileage for a Honda of this age - makes this RT a rare opportunity.

Terms:

This car is a well-preserved example - however it is nearly a 26-year-old automobile. I have done my best to represent it accurately. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale locally. Payment should be a bank-issued cashier's check or wire transfer. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours after the auction. Balance must be settled within 7 days. Please ask all questions before the auction ends.
