Description for Honda City 1990

The Honda City was basically a plus sized version of the Honda Today Kei car. This particular City is a CR-i, a "performance oriented" trim level, with the 1.3L fuel-injected D13C 4 cylinder and a 5 speed manual. Think of it as a City GTI of sorts. Though it's certainly not as fast as a Civic Si of the era, it weighsfar less (just 1700 lbs!) and is a total blast to throw around in the corners. Unlike Kei cars of this era, it has no issues keeping up with traffic on the freeway and maintains 80 MPH or more with no issues! From what I've gathered, this is 1/3 GA2s in the US (a yellow CR-i and a blue CG). It has been my daily driver for the past 5000 miles or so and has been fantastically reliable while averaging 25-30 MPG (on a trip to Oregon it averaged 40MPG with all highway driving!)
I bought this City in Japan around October/November 2017 and imported it myself, with it landing in January 2018. It was legally imported with all the proper paperwork and has a clean Washington title. I'd be more than happy to provide potential buyers with all the paperwork. Starting off with the negatives, cosmetically this car isn't a total winner. In all honesty, it's a 15 footer. The hood and roof were repainted due to clear coat fade, however, there is still paint fade in other places. There is one very very small spot of bubbling on the right rear quarter panel that should probably be addressed. There are a few scrapes. If you want a show quality car, it needs a repaint or a wrap (I was going to go for a pistachio green wrap and leave the roof blue at some point in the future). As with any 90s Honda there are some squeaks and rattles. Unfortunately, there is a grounding issue with the AC so it will blow cold but if the cooling fan kicks in while the AC is on, it'll blow the fuse that controls both.
For the good things: The car only has 100,000 miles on it (165,000 kilometers, verified on the export certificate) and runs very well! The timing belt was just replaced 40,000 kilometers ago. The clutch grabs well and it shifts smoothly. The 1.3L has decent power and a surprising amount of torque! It is very rust free other than the aforementioned spot on the right rear quarter. From what I can tell has been in no accidents. The body is straight with only a few dings. It is totally stock minus an aftermarket stereo and extra speakers on the rear parcel shelf, along with Civic front seats (much grippier than the stock ones). In my eyes, this is a more reliable alternative to a classic Mini or MkI GTI. It handles great! These were very popular for autocross in Japan and there is plenty of aftermarket support if you wanted to make this a track car or canyon carver. If I was keeping it I'd install some coilovers and sticky tires and call it a day. It's been a great daily driver for me and it'd be a great daily driver for you too! Unfortunately, current health issues mean I won't be driving for a while and I need to buy something automatic for my family to use in the meantime, so this has to go to a new home. I'm firm on the price, I believe it's very fair for such a rare car and these sell for similar amounts in Japan!
