Description for Hummer H1 1976

Hotrod hummer built to perform like a powerful off-road truck and look like a military hummer. The main steel body was custom built in Stanton, TX to resemble a military surplus hummer that would fit military surplus parts. The hood, windshield frame, and soft top are genuine OEM military surplus making the body closely resemble a real hummer without the complicated mechanics a genuine hummer. The build was originally completed in 2004 and started with a 1976 4X4, ¾ ton, Chevrolet suburban frame; therefore, the vehicle is registered as a 1976 Chevrolet truck. If parts for the drive train are needed, then a lookup for a similar year pickup at most local auto-parts stores will generally yield the needed components. a carbureted 454 chevy big block with true 2 ½” dual Flowmaster exhaust means power both on and off-road is never an issue. There is a Chevy 14 bolt rear axle and HD Dana 44 front axle with Warn manual locking hubs. Tires are military surplus Goodyear 37X12.5R16.5LT on 16.5’ aluminum rims with Rancho 5000 shocks to dampen the ride. Originally painted yellow the exterior color has been changed to flat black. The interior and bed are Rhino lined black with gray and black off-road bucket seats. Electronic gauges monitor, engine temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, speed, and odometer. A stereo with blue tooth connectivity runs through 6x9 speakers in the front and round speakers mounted in the rear console.

This Hummer is a real head turner and proves to be a conversation piece everywhere you go. Built in 2004 it has been driven and the kinks worked out over the years but currently needs some TLC. The 4x4 will engage but something unknown in the front axle is preventing it from transferring power to the wheels. The digital speedometer seems to be working but bounces and will not monitor speed properly. For long drives on a hot day shrouding needs to be added between the radiator and the hood to better direct air through the cooling fins. However, the vehicle currently drives well in 4X2 and is ready for cruises and daily driving on or off-road. After many fun years with this vehicle, it is time to pass it on for a new owner to enjoy.
